Here is a post from another news group for those that havent seen
This came from the news.simracing.org news group in the nh.discussion group
Thanks to John D for this program
OK folks.
Hopefully this is the beginning of an easy way to race Heat on the net.
Get this little program I just made called "Internet Race Finder' here :
http://216.87.208.137/irf.zip
unzip the file to a directory and run irf.exe to start it.
Make sure you have the setting of "Location of NHeat.exe" set to a DOS
readable form such as
"C:\Progra~1\Hasbro~1\NASCAR~2\NHeat.exe"
You guys test it out and I'll work on the server side if needed as I notice
things that need changing.
Here is the readme file :
Internet Race Finder
This a simple little program to find on line Nascar Heat races to join.
How To Join a Race
Nascar Heat must NOT be running when you click connect.
Nascar Heat will start after you have selected a race and connect.
You must then go into multiplayer and click "Find".
The IP address will already be listed in the search box.
No data will be sent during race so it will not affect your connection
quality.
How To Host a Race
Just have the program running in the background.
It will read your heat.log every few seconds looking for changes and
automatically post your hosted race on Race Finder.
Race will be removed from Race Finder screen within 2 minutes after your
race has started.
No data will be sent during race so it will not affect your connection
quality.
Hosting Tips
Change your player name in Nascar Heat to show what track you will be
racing I.E., "FastJoe-Daytona".
Known Issues
Probably many :)
If people use this prog I will make it better. Since I am not getting
paid for this it doesn't make any sense to continue work on it
unless people use it. I could possible add a chat room, ping values, etc
if people use it.
It doesn't currently work with dedicated servers, if people use it I'll
add dedicated server support.
More than anything I hope MGI gets us a match making service soon !!!
also I will suggest Kali as a meeting place for Heat drivers. It is not
officially supporting Heat yet, but you can setup a custom game icon to
activate it....
here is the Kali ip for the NH server 205.244.188.24:3064

Unless they've changed recently, it's a one-time fee of $20.

I am more cheap about the extra overhead needed for Kali to do it's job.
NH is bandwidth hungry and I would think that its TCP/IP software is
capable of doing the job. But I can understand the comforts of the old
home and friends that come with using Kali.

Most of the folks there run Heat races via TCP/IP, but you need a
watering hole between races:)
