I have been reading the posts about the GeForce2 cards. My question is I have an AMD350 with 128SDRAM, agp motherboard. Is there any point in me getting the GeForce2MX?? Or does it require the faster 700+ CPU's that i see mentioned in this group. **ElfKing** T'was in a kingdom long ago and far away......
Actually I was told by an expert that the GeForce in general takes a load off, and hence is good for weaker CPUs than the TNT2. I am running at PII at 496MHz and getting beautiful results with a new Hercules GeForce II MX. I had a TNT2 before and this is MUCH faster. I run every game in 1024x768x32bit with MAX detail. Go for it! In article <[email hidden]>, ElfKing <[email hidden]> wrote:

Well, I don't know what your current video card is, but I can tell you what the MX is like compared to the 3dfx V2 and V3 cards. The MX can make a dramatic performance difference if teamed up with a fast CPU, but with the AMD 350, you would probably see little benefit. As far as image quality is concerned, the MX will make some games like Heat look dramatically better, others like N3 worse, and some, like GPL, about the same. A CPU upgrade would make the most dramatic change if you already have a decent 3D card. If possible, you should upgrade to a Duron, Thunderbird, or PIII first, and then use whatever is left for a video card purchase. ElfKing wrote:
