Well, after a couple of days at this track, I've reached the stage where I'm
starting to know what's coming up next while racing on this track, as
opposed to being totally clueless and spinning out or being far too
tentative. I'm still spinning out occasionally and still being too
tentative, but this 174-turn behemoth is no longer looking as daunting as it
was only yesterday. I wish I had a photographic memory, though!
I finally broke 9 minutes in the last race, simply because I didn't have any
major disasters. Funnily, though, at Pflanzgarten after a slight excursion
off track, I lost my force feedback (first time this has ever happened).
This probably cost me 5 seconds or so. Hence, I was happy with my 8:51
because it means that 8:40's are now within reach. And after 8:40's come
8:30's and then 8:20's and then ... dream on. :)
Bendito;
Yep. I did an 8:57, then in 3 days it was an 8:45, then in 2 weeks I did a
real good run and did an 8:27. As long as you keep the car going you'll be
in the 8:30's in no time :)
Thanks,
Alex

I got there recently too, a tough job to get there isn't it?
Yet somehow when you finally finish a sub-9 lap you think....hmmmmm......
that was easy:-)
I find the secret to the Ring is that three are a few blind tuns which can
be taken flat out, learn where they are and you'll be flying....
I used to back off or drop a gear in some of these places.... cost me mucho
seconds.... Oh well.....on to 8.30 barrier now :)

Never argue with an idiot. He brings you down to his level, then beats you
with experience...

I ran an 8:55, 8:52, 8:57 in consecutive laps. I've only been under 9:00
*once* since then, in at *least* 50 more laps... :(

Have you tried the Cooper as opposed to the ferrari again? I went back to
it last night and it really seemed alot more forgiving with much less
tendency to spin. I've only gotten under 8:30 once, but have been getting
alot of 8:33s lately.

Myself I can not watch replays at the Ring. I can race the ring, just
can not watch the replays, they make me seasick! Like
Doom/Quake/Duke3d all over again. I try to avaoind that! I too find
that if I push myself at the Ring I end up mowing. So I guess I will
have to try not pushing and it might take a sick day from work :-O.
