> >This driver works!!!! >http://www.thrustmaster.com/index.php3 After I installed the new drivers, I have a huge deadspot in the wheel, and it doesn't tuen smoothly in the games and I just cleaned it too and that didn't help any suggestions? I turn the wheel and the car struggles to move this is in all games GPL GP3 F1 2000 RC2k, etc.... help and it doesn't turn smoothly, it is very jerky
I was having your exact problem before the new driver. I found cold solder joints at both wires on the steering pot. I resoldered them and cured the large nullzone or "deadspot". After the new driver installation the whole thing just plain "feels" smoother. It calibrates more precisely and holds its calibration. Trust me it's worthwhile. Another thing I found out is you MUST follow the instructions PRECISELY or you will have problems. Make sure you print out the instructions from the site. Make SURE you completely remove all previous drivers too. I have done a little badmouthing of Thrustmaster lately because of the problems with the wheel but they have truly made good with this new driver. Don't feel bad. I have the exact same problem with a deadspot at the 12 o'clock position using these new drivers. Followed the install instructions to the letter......3 different times to be exact with the same results. I ended up using the 3.04 driver set released in July and the deadspot is gone. But these also seem to be somewhat flakey as far as stability (i.e. BSOD's, lockups). Also, the wheel seems "jumpy" on the cal screen around the 12 o'clock zone........maybe I'll pop the top and check the solder joints. On 02 Sep 2000 16:45:05 GMT, [email hidden] (TRUSRS85) wrote:

TRUSRS85..........what driver version were you using prior to the ones just released? Did you have a "deadspot" problems with those?

I just ran into the same problem last night. 3.04 seemed to work okay but this new driver is junk. I had to crank down the steering lock in all my setups just to drive the thing. It was real jerky and the dead spot is back. Did they remove 3.04 off the website? I need it back. Dave "TRUSRS85" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Worse for me... :( Get to the setup screen under "game controllers", or "control panel" from the popup, touch *anything* on the wheel, and all the buttons light up, the wheel spins uncontrollably, and the brake pad runs both the brake and gas.... half of each. In other words, just flat freaks out. Hooked it straight to the board, and through every port in the hub, nothing helps. All of my other USB stuff still works fine, just not the wheel. Bummer. Still works under '98, though. My system: K6-III/400 on a Gigabyte GA-5AA 224MB PC100 Guillemot Maxi-Gamer Phoenix SBLive WD45GB UDMA66 IBM15GB UDMA66 Dual installed W2K and W98 No conflicts under system manager.... To all Thrustmaster Nascar Pro Digital wheel owners I purchased this wheel when it first came out (Oct. or Nov. 99), and like yourselves, loaded up the drivers from the install cd, calibrated it, and then tried it out on a few racing games/sims. I was terribly disappointed in the huge center deadzone and the response of the wheel. I went to Thrustmaster 's site for help but they we're useless and I don't believe any new drivers were available at that time. A news search on this wheel generated a tip that suggested the following: Install the wheel and drivers per Thrustmaster's instructions and calibrate it in windows. Remove the wheel from your controller list and reboot. Add the wheel back to the #1 spot in your controller list but DON'T go into calibration, this is the key. Now setup the wheel in your individual games. After doing this, the deadzone was gone, the response was smooth and accurate, and all buttons and levers worked fine. I presently run the following games with no problems, GPL, N3, SCGT, Viper Racing, F1 2000, Nascar Heat, Rally Championship 2000. For reference purposes, here are my system specs: P3 600, 256mb ram, voodoo3, SB live value, running Win98 2nd Ed. I posted this suggestion once before, but apparently it didn't catch on.
