STEPHEN STANELAND 02 Sep 2000 16:08 UTC#234450
Hello.  I hope someone can offer me some assistance.  I got rid of the opening video for GP3 and need some help getting rid of the 5 start lights, that I must wait through, that come on between menus.  I find this boring and wasteful.  Especially while developing setups.  They come on every time you go to setup, before being able to enter the cockpit again.  The file names in the ANIMationS directory , look not to be these lights. Can anyone offer some assistance.  It would be GREATLY appreciated -- Race Fan Supreme Stephen Staneland Steve's Golf & Tennis Visit the AMW Race Team at http://AMWracing.homestead.com/Main.html
Stephen The files are located in the <gp3>/bitmaps directory and named loading1.bmp ... loading6.bmp. If you delete or rename them, you get a black screen in the game instead of the lights. Or you can put in any 640x480 bitmaps and rename them to loading#.bmp. If you'd prefer pictures of 'f1 babes' you can find a few sets of them at http://www.alphaf1.com/gp3 -> downloads -> Other Graphics. Those pics are definitely less annoying to look at :-) Werner STEPHEN STANELAND schrieb:

But either way, Stephen, you have to wait. It's just a matter of what you will be looking at while you wait. -Nick Werner Huber <[email hidden]> wrote:

I don't see what the problem is... It's just a progress indicator, after all, and so they've selected a mechanism that is F1 related, it could just have easily been a speedometer, or just a boring bar that says 'Please Wait'... Cheers, Steve.

Until we have ATA-5000 interfaces and matching harddrives, you'll have to wait while loading tracks in ANY game. GP3 performs even rather well in this area if you compare it to some other software! <grin> GP3 moves like lightning compared to MS Flightsim 2000... Martin D. Pay FS2k can be a real pain sometimes...
What is really annoying is when you compare the same sequence in GP2 and GP3. In GP2, this process or waiting game or whatever, takes 3-5 seconds whereas GP3 is considerably slower. Is that because of the 'vastly improved' graphics? I mean, it can't take THAT much longer...
