The demo you tried is a public beta demo. A regular demo with the final code is supposed to be released later on. No, it's not a pure sim, but it's not pure arcade either. There will be about 70 real SUV's and trucks whose physics are designed by the manufacturer's specs. You can also customize them in career mode with dozens of performance parts which turn them into full blown race vehicles. The only thing not realistic is the setting for center of gravity. This will be able to be changed though to whatever setting you like by PC and Mac users. The gravity is set lower by default for gameplay purposes because SUV' s with big tires and high suspensions are easy to roll and could frustrate a lot of gamers. If you set the center of gravity to a realistic setting, then it's a sim IMO. John O' Keefe (VROC) is the producer and the multiplayer is excellent. Graphics are awesome, tracks are great, and the beta testers will also design some tracks to be released when the game goes on sale. It's supposed to ship with the editor too. I still love SODA, it's for me the second best realistic game after GPL in terms of physics, so I'm awaiting a real "off-road" title with graphics that are fun to watch. Insane, LeadFoot and 4x4 Evo are on my list, I'll buy the best one for my taste. -- -- Franois Mnard <ymenard> -- May the Downforce be with you... -- http://www.WeRace.net -- People think it must be fun to be a super genius, but they don't realise how hard it is to put up with all the idiots in the world.

I hope you're right about the center-of-gravity thing; I did get the feeling that there was a decent physics model underneath the hood, so if we and/or they can tweak the parameters a little more this could be a real winner. I have not been able to get SODA to run under WIN98 and it also won't recognize my MSFF Wheel. What could be the problem anyone ? My System: Win 98 SE--all current patches and fixes. It can't be changed in the public beta demo. David G Fisher "Andre Warringa" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > Ok, sounds promising! SODA works ok on my W98 system. I use the full screen shortcut (does NOT have the /W after the executable). You could also try using /S after the .EXE, which tells it to not even try looking for a Rendition card. Don't expect FF in the game, it is an old implementation of FF and incompatible with modern FF protocol. But I can play SODA with my ActLabs FF wheel, without FF, only centering force. The game locks up when I toggle on the FF option on the controller options menu, though. If you do get it running, expect to turn down some of the graphics detail to maintain a good framerate. I have to on my PIII450. Good luck! Check out http://soda.trackclub.net/ to download addtional tracks! "Doug Hook" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:%lft5.59785$[email hidden]...

I was never able to get that to run on my Athlon under Win98/Geforce. I think it's the Geforce killing it :( -Larry Alex Kihurani wrote:

Nice game, nice physics, absolutely horrible controller procedures. I've yet to get it working with a wheel. -Larry "Rod Smelser" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:S0uF5.15378$[email hidden]...
