Try it, it's the best rally game since CMR.
Forget the arcade mode, the AI is so stupid (why not ghost cars, magnetic Fields
??)
The championship mode is great, the graphics are photo-realistics, the FF are
very good.
Trust me: when i drive a 25 kms (16 miles) run at an average of 140 kmh (95 mph)
between rocks
and trees, i have a lot more of sensations than drive at 200 mph in a F1 game.

BTW, for all the Rally 2000 owner (Mobil 1):
When i select and race in the "Time trial" mode, after
i did my best lap at a track, when i re-run on it, i don't know
the time difference at every point compared to my best lap.
In others games, time trial mode means to fight himself against
a ghost car or see the time difference (+ or -) vs your best lap.
Is it just me or every version of the game miss this feature ???

It certainly is more than just a 'game'. It was the first time I had
actually the feeling of driving hard through a real landscape while
sitting behind my PC. A FF-wheel is almost mandatory, though. Get it,
Top-10 stuff.

Only thing - I could never *quite* get the car to feel right....The
slightest of turns on the wheel made it turn 90 degrees, it seems, and
cornering I found, was too slow. I'm sure it's my fault in incorrect
settings of the wheel, so if any of you bright sparks has any suggestions,
I'm all ears.

I've tried the demo:
1) Played with the controller settings for 1/2 hour. I was very
disgusted wtih the way the wheel affects the car. It seems the car is
too sensitive in the middle. And not sensitive enough on the out
edges of the wheel. I tried everything
2)Some of the physics feel unreal.
3) The cars just seem too arcadish.

I nearly passed up on this excellent sim also, due to the overly sensitive
controls in the demo. But , I bought it anyways, and I really like it. The
graphics are about the most colorful and scenic ever in any racing game. The
physics are pretty good, especially considering how much more complex off road
terrain is than smooth road courses are, it must be pretty difficult to
simulate from a programmers standpoit without doing a little fudging on the
physics modeling. It is basically solo racing, so you have to get used to that
in order to enjoy it.
I usually race against my self in two player alternating mode, and I use 2
different classes of cars to see if I can do as well with a slower car.

"wrong"....as I said, if there's any fiddling or twiddling to be done I
can't wait to hear what it is. I really, really want to play this game lots,
but can't get over the too-sensitive steering.

Hey! I used to do that in GP2! Running both cars in a team to get the
constructors champioship... Cool!

BTW: Does anyone know how to change the Re: prefix Outlook Express applies
when responding?
I don't know if that will help you, but in the "setup area", before a run,
there are a "steering sensivity" option.
Just try a value near the "low" corner.
When i do that, the car is hard to steer.

Thanks Peter, I was looking for this. Does it work with the demo?

Ditto!!!
I held off because the demo was un-driveable, but the full game is a
blast... The only downside is that their all circuits in England.. No
variety like games such as CMR and Rally Masters... Still the best graphics
of ANY rally game I've seen, and a LOT of features.. Much more sim-like than
arcade like.

Note: This is NOT a smartass remark:
The real-life Mobil 1 Rally Championship upon which the sim is based is
a UK-only series; that's why all the tracks are in the UK...
