With regards to the patch/expansion pack that we should expect in November, do you think: A) That Hasbro rushed Geoff Crammond to get GP3 out, thus forcing him to leave certain features out, which now due to the complaints they have recieved they will give us these features for a small price. B) Hasbro have given Crammond the bollocking of his life for giving them a mediocre product and are now forcing him to get it right. And of course giving them an excuse to make a few more $. C) It was all planned like this so Hasbro could sell two pieces of software instead of one and make twice as much profit. As a matter of fact, I have only just recieved GP3 and apart from a quick sneak at it on my PC at work have not played it yet. It does look good and I am expecting to enjoy it, so this isn't an attack on GP3, GC or Hasbro. Chris --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. I'd go for B. This could also have a positive imapct on GP4. -- MeatWater ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Please update your email adress book! Cynic that I am, I'll choose C. -- Chuck Kandler Windows--computing for the Unwashed Masses Registered Linux User #180746 http://counter.li.org
I think it is all three A, B and C. :-) (Seriously) "Chris Bloom" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > With regards to the patch/expansion pack that we should expect inNovember, > do you think: > > A) That Hasbro rushed Geoff Crammond to get GP3 out, thus forcinghim to > leave certain features out, which now due to the complaints theyhave > recieved they will give us these features for a small price. > > B) Hasbro have given Crammond the bollocking of his life for givingthem a > mediocre product and are now forcing him to get it right. I think the announcement by EA may shed some light onto this topic. They too are bringing out an "update" earlier than first planned. I beleive both titles have fallen short of critical expectations. So Hasbro and EA are trying to get the package "right" before launching yearly updates. I think we can rest assured that if there were NOT two premier F1 titles competing for sales, we would not be seeing these updates. paid for or other wise. Similarly...I'm guessing the real reason for the delay of N4 is to try and add value to the package in some manner to compete with the extra gameplay of Nascar Heat. N4's graphic update, mulitplayer improvement, and the gpl level physics will appeal to the advanced users, but perhaps they felt they needed something to grab the average Joe as well. ****This is all supposition on my part, I have NO facts or info to back them up.***** dave henrie "Chris Bloom" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...
I think they watched this newsgroup closely after the release and then probably got a hold of some other titles (GP500, GPL) to see the difference for themselves, and then called in joy boy geoff and said something along the lines of "next time, if there is a next time, we're gonna ride you like zorro to make sure you give us what WE want, not what you THINK we want". So in answer to the question, "B".

You know, after this blatant scheme (GP3), I can't believe anyone would still buy the GP3 patch or a game called GP4. I guess this is the reason companies pull this kind of crap, they know there are suckers out there who will give them money for cow-patties on a cracker! Geez, If they don't release a demo first (even if they do sometimes) you can bet it's gonna suck. And you fine folks wonder why there's so much piracy out there. It depends on what the price is. It's called perceived value. While GP3 isn't worth $39.99 to me(or to you, obviously), it might very well be worth $19.99. At the point where the 'retail' value meets my 'perceived' value, I'll probably buy it. By the way, peoples' perceive value seldom stays the same. My number for N3 was about $20. When Dave N.'s converter came out, the perceived value for N3 went up. I ended up buying it for $29 or $34, can't remember which. In my opinion, NO car is 'worth' over $50,000. However, there are enough people *buying* 'em to keep the manufacturer in business. Having said that, I'd *love* to have a Lotus Esprit Turbo...(drool) :) Eldred -- Tiger Stadium R.I.P. 1912-1999 Homepage - http://www.umich.edu/~epickett GPL hcp. +49.67 Never argue with an idiot.
