HI
Has anyone written a mod to allow a realtime clock to run, letting you know
your lap times in realtime format?

I don't understand the question I think... you mean you want this
because you see the laptimes only during practice and qualifying and
not during races? Or do you think that the times are not realtime like
in GP2/3?
Andre
I think he wants a little clock running in the top of the screen telling him
the current time of the lap and when he crosses, will show him his lap time
from that lap and then start over counting...kinda like a stopwatch.

Yes, that is what he asks for.......and BTW, me too.
Any ideas.
When we run some hotlaps, it would be great to see our actual time in order
to see if we are faster than the previous lap at a curb.

Imagine a ghost car race mode where you could not only have a complete race
against a previous best result, but that would allow you to clip just one
lap and have it start synchronized with your car as you cross the start
line, allowing you to race against your best laptime each time around the
track. *sigh* too much to ask for I guess.

MGPRS2 have this fantastic hotlap option.
But, unfortunately, the major part of games don't have it, pffffffff.

Viper Racing has this feature as well and it works very nicely. It
would have been fun to have it in GPL.

There's a way to obtain this in qualifying sessions and practice.
You must change the track.ini file of each track (make sure you did a backup
copy), go to the line in wich you have the following string:
pit_board = 30.2 500.0 -100.0 100.0 ; dlat of board, dlong of board, dlong
LOS start, dlong LOS end (last 2 not used)
And change the second number (usually is a little negative value; Changing
it to 500.0 I've send my pitboard boy 500 meters ahed in Rettifilo at Monza,
he's in contact via walkie talkie with the crono man and he's very fast to
change letters and numbers on the dashboard)
