I used to let Win98 remember my password. But now that GPLrank has switched site, I have to type in username and password manually. Trouble is: I don't remember my username, nor password. Where has Win98 stored my passwords? What file should I look for? Jon Andersen
In your \%winroot% dir the is a file called yourusername.pwl. Just delete it and re-log on. I don't know, but I would *hope* that file is encrypted ;-) To solve your problem, you could probably ask Uwe to send the password to the email address he has on file for you. > Jon Andersen Cheers, Herko

The database only keeps crypted passwords, so all the admins can do for you is to reset your password to the default value. Just send mail to [email hidden] and help will be on its way. BTW, Id like to use the opportunity to say "sorry" for all the trouble you've had connecting to the new site. The problem is that the DNS for the domain ringlord.com is a bit broken, and it's not up to us to fix it. The DNS change for the old URL (http://gplrank.schuerkamp.de/) should have propagated by now, so I guess it's safe to use from now on. The new box itself has been quite stable (only one crash over the last ten days), and it's now on a UPS to soothe out any power glitches. Keep your fingers crossed. Cheers & thanks again for your patience, Uwe -- Uwe Schuerkamp http://www.schuerkamp.de/ uwe.schuerkamp at telemedia.de for direct mail (from: is spambox) PGP Fingerprint: 2E 13 20 22 9A 3F 63 7F 67 6F E9 B1 A8 36 A4 61
It's in a *.pwl file in the System directory. -Larry "Jon Andersen" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:FNRu5.847$[email hidden]... > I used to let Win98 remember my password. But now that GPLrank hasswitched > site, I have to type in username and password manually. Trouble is: Idon't

It's not. The Windows password doesn't really provide any protection. Hell, you can just escape past the dialog :) -Larry "Herko ter Horst" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:0N8v5.276238$Kw2.2239725@flipper...
