Hi Group,
I'd like to know if Nascar 3 runs on Windows 2000 systems. I have to redo
my computer and would like to install 2000 on it but not if N3 doesn't work.
Appreciate a direct email on this if possible.
Thanks in advance,

You're better off installing Windows ME rather than 2000.

Although I have got the few games I play working ok in W2K the performance
of them suffers greatly under the load of W2K. Perhaps DX8 will improve
things but I'm not holding my breath.

In my experience with two systems now, W2K game performance seems to depend
on a few factors:
1) Memory. 128MB minimum for W2K Pro with 256 seemingly being the sweet
spot
2) Drivers, drivers, drivers.
On a PII400/128MB PC100/Intel SE440-BX/ATi Rage Fury/IBM 7200rpm HD system
(then later with a PIII667/ASUS CUV4X) I noticed almost no difference
between W98 and W2K.
In some games W2K is better than W98. Where W2K really takes off is in it's
memory management and system resource management. Pure 32-bit seems to make
a difference. I don't have a single game or application that runs better in
W98.
I think the video drivers are the key to games. ATi released a pretty
decent set of W2K beta drivers but a lot of manufacturers have dropped the
ball.
So, once you get all your ducks in a row W2K can be a decent gaming platform
but as always YMMV.
