Mercedes-Benz Truck Racing final demo

MeatWater announced the final German-language demo of Synetic's Mercedes-Benz Truck Racing. Users swapped tips on navigating the German menus, fixing slowdowns by disabling hi-res textures on Voodoo cards, and learned that RS shifter, split axis and force feedback support would come in localised versions.

any rs-shifter support in there? just wondering, sarcastic 'what do you need that for' comments not required.

erm because some people (all the owners of the rs-shifter units for instance) like to use a manual gearbox...

The real racetrucks use either full-auto or manual (sequencial) *down*shift. MeatWater ******************************* Webmaster @ LEGENDS OPEN NIGHT NASCAR racing at it's finest! http://www.meatwater.com/nlegends [email hidden] "Rich" <[email hidden]> schrieb im Newsbeitrag news:[email hidden]...

Can someone give me a few simple steps on getting this to run? I've translated the readme, but still can't actually get into a truck. I can choose tracks, see the driver screen, etc. Maybe an English-German "what buttons do I push to start the game" kind of tutorial? Thanks Icer = G Patricks G Patricks = Icer
Choose Einzeles Rennen from the game menu and then Warm Up... Warning: you might be held in your box for a while... I haven't found out how to accellerate that yet. Jan. =--- G Patricks wrote...

I have only just learned from the programmers that the RS Shifter will be supportet in the localized versions AND in the upcoming english demo. -- MeatWater ******************************* Webmaster @ LEGENDS OPEN NIGHT NASCAR racing at it's finest! http://www.meatwater.com/nlegends [email hidden] "MeatWater" <[email hidden]> schrieb im Newsbeitrag news:8pjstl$ddf5k$[email hidden]... > The real racetrucks use either full-auto or manual (sequencial) *down*shift. > > MeatWater > ******************************* > Webmaster @ LEGENDS OPEN NIGHT > NASCAR racing at it's finest! > http://www.meatwater.com/nlegends > [email hidden] > > > > "Rich" <[email hidden]> schrieb im Newsbeitrag > news:[email hidden]... > > On Tue, 12 Sep 2000 00:50:57 +0200, "Jan Verschueren" > > <[email hidden]> wrote: > > > > >Of course not... why should there be? > > > > > >Jan. > > >=--- > > >Rich wrote... > > >> any rs-shifter support in there? > > >> just wondering, sarcastic 'what do you need that > > >> for' comments not required. > > >> > > >> > > > > > erm because some people (all the owners of the rs-shifter units for > > instance) like to use a manual gearbox... > > > > > >
Thanks Jan. I got in but it seems this thing has some pretty high requirements! I have a PIII @ 920mz, V5 5500, 256 megs, an ATA 100 HD and it turns into a slideshow during any kind of incident and even when I was alone on the track just heading toward the pits?? Also, I know i'm "culturally challenged", but wasn't it a bit short-sighted of them not to have the choice of an English menu concidering the size of the US/UK market? I wrote down a lot of the menu choices and ventured into a translation website, but i'm still lost. Once in the truck I can't get out except to the options menu, I finally Alt-Tab'd to Windows desktop and kill the task to quit the darn thing! Oh, and I have no sound, nothing at all..... LOL

Also, I know i'm Ouch... When I tried the older demo the first time I had a V2 SLI card. Sometimes the it run super fluid, then all of a sudden it would turn into a slideshow, and a couple of secs later it run super fluid again. Weird thing was that it had nothing to do with what was on the screen. When it was very crowdy it would go superfluid sometimes, other times it would run very slow while I drove alone. When I bought a V3 card the demo run perfect. This was all on a PII 450. Haven't tried the new version yet. What resolution did you run the demo in by the way? Andre
Welcome... Can't really help you with the technical stuff as my config is quite different, apart from saying it should fly like excrement from the well lubricated garden implement on your spec. Dont' write the demo/game off yet. I'm sure it can be made to work beautifully on your system. The demo is in German now, but internationalised versions are on the way (both demo and game). Obviously the game is easier for me to tweak as I understand German (I don't speak it that well, but I get bye). You can quit any session by pressing escape... look for the line that has "abbrechen" in it. From the menus choose "Beenden" to quit the game. The interface actually works quite well (once you're used to it). I'm sure it'll all become clear in the English version. Jan. =--- G Patricks wrote... > Thanks Jan. > <snip>
Voodoo 3 and 5 owners have to deactivate "Hires-Texturen" in the graphics settings. This is an error in the demo. Athlon 800/128RAM Soundblaster Live! Voodoo 3 3k, running @ 1024X768 with no probs. I suggest you head over to the official message board http://www.thq.de/ext/mbtr-de/index.cgi?#2707 It's mostly in german, but if you post in english you'll be helped :) -- MeatWater ******************************* Webmaster @ LEGENDS OPEN NIGHT NASCAR racing at it's finest! http://www.meatwater.com/nlegends [email hidden] "G Patricks" <[email hidden]> schrieb im Newsbeitrag news:[email hidden]... > Thanks Jan. > I got in but it seems this thing has some pretty high requirements! Thanks Meatwater.. thing is I have a German exchange student living here for the year so I just need to sit her down with me and go through it until the English Demo is released... Icer = G Patricks G Patricks = Icer
I disabled the "Hires-Texturen" in the graphics settings per good ol Meatwater's suggestion and I get 50 FPS avg. in 1024x768 32bit now. I still can't quit properly. I hit escape after parking in the pits and I get a small 7-8 slider display (with no way to use it) and if I hit enter I get the Setup screens but no way out of the sim. Neat thing, if I Alt-Tab and end the task in Win98 it kills my speakers by bottoming the Wave slider in Volume control! I thought my card had blown! Did it twice, so its obvioisly the culprit... strange.

All NON-GERMAN versions will support Force Feedback and split axis controls.
