I've been pretty impressed by this in the past. But I've just spent an hour messing about trying to get myself updated from whatever the last version was to whatever the current version is and the end result was me rage-quitting and uninstalling the whole thing. I just couldn't get the updated mod versions to be recognised. When I calm down I will perhaps attempt to start from scratch again. If I can remember my login details. I know I have them scribbled down somewhere. Much though iRacing still bugs me in many ways, one area they absolutely nailed was the updating process. In my experience anyway. Just log on, hit update, and the rest is history. Having said that, there have been an couple of occasions in 4 years where the process fell over for some reason, but there were no shortage of people in a similar situation, so help was easy. Maybe I should just buy Combined Ops and get into DayZ while it's still shiny, new, and the most exciting thing to happen to PC gaming for years. And on that subject, I find this vid incredibly funny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pDSMRDrgso "Oh, you dirty bastard!" Andrew McP

As an aside, the update process in pCARS is so far bulletproof. They issue a complete build on the 1st Friday of each month (currently weighing in at 3.5 GB with most folks downloading via torrent) with subsequent weekly (or daily, if you're a senior manager) builds issued as patches against the last full build. This week's patch uploaded today was only 35 MB. With the latest Ford licensing announcement and new tracks seemingly showing up every week (a Charlotte Motor Speedway knockoff with a modified infield track was in today's patch, and they're currenly working on Monaco), there's a lot to keep "track" of. :) http://www.wmdportal.com/ ************************************************************************ In-game Modern Tracks - Anhalt - Oschersleben (GP, National) - Azure Circuit - Monaco - Badenring - Hockenheim (Post 2002, National, Short) - Bathurst - Mount Panorama - Belgian Forest Circuit - Spa Francorchamps - Besos - Circuit de Catalunya (Pre/Post 2007) - Bologna (Reverse) - Imola (Reverse) - California Raceway - Willow Springs - Connecticut Hill GP - Watkins Glen - (Short, Reverse) - Derby - Donington Park (GP, National) - Florence - Mugello - Heusden - Zolder - Jin Ding - Zhuhai - Loire 24 - Circuit de la Sarthe (Le Mans) - Loire National - Bugatti Circuit - Milan - Monza (GP, Short) - Monterey - Laguna Seca - Moravia - Brno - Northampton - Silverstone - Sakitto - Suzuka (GP/East/West) - Wisconsin Raceway - Road America In-game Historic Tracks - Historic Badenring - Hockenheim (Pre 2002) - Rouen Les Essarts - Historic Milan - Monza (1967. Download the update file from the forum and put it in the documents/rfactor/update directory.....once you have downloaded and put the file there, go into the game to the update area, it will automatically find the file in the update directory and update itself.

What the heck does any of this have to do with calibrating your forcefeedback with regards to screen height? :-D MRSisson -- GLP LOAD "",8,1 START GO

Back when I was still paying attention to pCARS I too had no problems... though that was because I was installing it from scratch every time. :-) I decided to take a break for six months when I got bored waiting for the 'feel' to improve. I'm sure it'll happen eventually, but I tend to think that's where you start with a sim, not where you finish. So I remain hopeful but not expectant. I also struggled with the tone of the forums and the 'vibe' around the project politics after a while. And that "oooh, you'd better upgrade now while you still can" stunt left a nasty taste in my mouth. It seemed a bit cynical, even if it wasn't meant that way. Ian is an interesting character though, and I put nothing past him. :-) I've paid up for the full thing on release, but having done that I'm no longer interested in wasting time following every build. rF2 -- when I'm not getting stroppy with it -- feels very satisfying, iRacing continues to act as a considerable time sync even preparing for just 2 races a week, and I confess to being more excited by AC than anything else on the horizon... even the Lotus49 in iRacing. Though that's mainly because I doubt that car will arrive for quite some time. It can't be a high priority on their marketing schedule, and I think that's what drives the software (quite rightly, for a business still relying on special offers to draw people in and retain them). I probably should have been more patient, but at my age life's short and the delete button is always tempting... though not in a Fleetwood Mac kind of way. Andrew McP

It's been a long time since I installed the original mods and this time I was putting them in the Update folder rather than the Packages folder. Rookie error. Andrew McP

Hang in there, Andrew, we're still in beta ;-) All the best, Uwe
