World Sports Cars Lotus Esprit preview video

A video of a Lotus Esprit GT1 in the upcoming World Sports Cars sim was posted, drawing enthusiastic reactions to its reflections, exhaust flames and sound. Developer Chris West clarified that it was captured on a P2-450 with a Voodoo 5500 at 4x FSAA, locked to 30fps. Much of the rest of the thread covered how to play the .m1v file, including on Linux, and whether a 450MHz PC could handle a full field.

The only antidote in this instance will be a demo :-) By the way Mr. West, the job you did on the window/glass reflections is world class. Also, after the car hits the armco for the second time the reflection off the wheels gives the illusion of turning in the wrong direction for a split second as they spin.. just like real life (the black wheels not the copper colored wheels.) It does look like it is the version without any serious physics model, but it still looks miles better than other games. The flames coming out of the exhaust piped during downshift is simply awesome. Ello Just to clarify the situation :O) The video was taken from a P2-450 with a Voodoo 5500 running 4xFSAA, the video was locked to 30fps which was slower than the actual game rate. Hope that helps. Chris "Ashley McConnell" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:8ptfv1$24m$[email hidden]...

If what we have been led to believe is true, and I have no reason to doubt it, WSC should be able to run prety well on a 450. This has been mentioned in quite a few articles and interviews and will be very welcome to those of us who are unable to afford an new CPU every six months! Sure one car running around the track will work GREAT on a PII 450. If you are counting on old hardware to stand up to something with that much detail....I think you are dreaming. I'm guessing a full field of cars with smoke and damaged panels will bring the procedings to a dramatic slowdown. dave henrie "Chris Bloom" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > If what we have been led to believe is true, and I

There is a minor bug or two in v7.0, but it's got a lot to offer too. Very customizable and supports many formats. My previous comment was based on the fact that there are no such thing as microsoft media player for Linux :), hence the question for a more accessible nonmonopolistic format. -- Olav K. Malmin remove spam when replying
