USGP TV schedule and a row over off-topic posting

Barton Brown posted Speedvision's schedule for the first Indianapolis US Grand Prix weekend, and users discussed coverage, commentator Sam Posey and the Porsche Supercup. Zonky objected to off-topic posts, prompting Brown to tally Zonky's own off-topic posting and a sharp exchange. The thread ended with an explanation of how newsgroup charters and Usenet control work.

Thanks Barton. I wonder if Letterman or Leno will get a driver to be a guest.. might be interesting. Anyway, I'm glad to see such a full schedule of coverage. The only drawback is that I'll be hearing the voice of Sam Posey this weekend two to three times more than usual (and I know he's already in his cubby-hole office working on some 'fascinating historical parallels' and various assorted analogy's.) But I'm just jazzed its all finally happening! 'Schumacher is IN the building' mr Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

Not as critical as whether your Frogmaster Steering Wheel return springs are wound clockwise or anti-clockwise, I know, but the Fox Sports Net, Speedvision, and IRRN schedules for the USGP weekend are at: http://www.usgpindy.com/press/2000/irrn-09132000.php3 Same website has an entry list (as of 9/12) for the Pirelli SuperCup race, but no television scheds. Check your local listings, as FoxSports and MSG are both carrying some of the practice and qual (and, I presume, a tape delay of the race itself.)

He never seems to just speak casually. Bingo. But isn't it that way with everything F1? Every accident is "huge", every lap was "brilliant". Every off-track utterance from an owner or driver is of earth-shattering import. Sam is just a somewhat magnified version of it. Pretty much every race I have to recall that Posey was a driver (umm, he was, wasn't he?). He comes across as just another broadcaster hack relying on the expertise of his partners.
As a race commentator, Sam Posey makes a good race driver. <g> I really dread the races when he's in the booth. Quite the pompous ass... Regards, Brett C. Cammack That's Racing! Motorsports Pompano Beach, FL

Dear Zonkohhroid: Of the 61 messages posted in rec.autos.simulators under your anonymous mailshack name since May of this year, 11 of them -- nearly 20% -- are completely off-topic for this NG... and I'm not even counting your numerous rants against OTHERS for posting off-topic, which makes your actual "ON-topic" percentage considerably lower.
