Can someone post a quick note on here describing the limitations of the demo as compared to the full version? For instance, how many tracks? Which track(s)? Can you run a race with a full field? Time limit? Etc...??? I ask because 121 megs is a large d/l. But it's worth it if I can accurately judge the quality of the game from the demo. Thanks! -Patrick In article <[email hidden]>, [email hidden] (TRUSRS85) wrote:

Let's have fun with Hasbro's poor PR : > featuring all the circuits, all the teams, all the drivers<cough> wrong. > Highly detailed vehicle/track 3D graphics in both hardware and softwaremodes <cough> wrong. > Multiplayer on LAN for 4+.<cough> misleading. > Completely rebuilt simulation system featuring new Physics, Full Tumble, etc. <cough> misleading > Technology leading F1audio including 3D sound.<cough> wrong. Can't beleive they would write such things. No wonder many people got caught into thinking Gp3 would not just be a small evolution from Gp2, with all those false (or misleading) information. -- -- Franois Mnard <ymenard> -- May the Downforce be with you... -- http://www.WeRace.net -- People think it must be fun to be a super genius, but they don't realise how hard it is to put up with all the idiots in the world.

I'm assuming they're wrong about the 3D sound, and there isn't a menu/setting i've missed somewhere? Z. Please remove my_pants when replying.

Suzuka has been mentioned as the demo track in other posts to this Newsgroup. Z. Please remove my_pants when replying.

I've only spent a little time playing the demo, but I couldn't configure it for split axis on my Formula Force, either. It accepts all of the choices, but doesn't see the "Joystick B" on the calibration screen. Tim

I ask because 121 megs is a large d/l. But it's worth it if >I can accurately judge the quality of the game from the demo. Others: This is the only mode. A two-lap race. Some may whine for more. But frankly, it should be enough to gauge the game (big IF on controller issue below). You can toggle all aids, except indestructable, which is off. Graphics modes run from 640x480 (maybe 512x?) to 1280x1024 You can choose a custom controller setup, where it lets you choose split axis, as well as clutch device. BUT, it ignores my "joystick-B" (CH Pro pedals) completely. So, I appear stuck with a single controller setup. Can someone advise here? Typical GP/GP2 controls and options all appear to be in place and active (usual views, the short replay mode, the processor occupancy).
"Zonky" <[email hidden]> wrote > I'm assuming they're wrong about the 3D sound, and there isn't amenu/setting > i've missed somewhere? Yeah it's pure invention by Hasbro. There is absolutely no 3d sound, heck you can't even hear the others cars! I bet 5$ they would defend this position in court by saying that when viewing the track from the TV camera, you have a canned F1 engine sound that pans left to right when the car is X near the camera. That for them, is 3d sound. 2 laps of Suzuka, I think. Cheers, Steve.

They wrote that on purpose, they wouldn't had wrote "all the drivers (minus Jacques Villeneuve)". It's another crappy commercial lie to attract more $$$$$$$ from gamers. Pure and simple. > > > Highly detailed vehicle/track 3D graphics in both hardware andsoftware > > modes > > <cough> wrong. > Huh? I should I wrote misleading. It's quite obvious that their objective view of "higly detailed vehicle/track 3d graphics" is false by today's standards. I've seen more and better track detail in Nascar Racing 2. > > > Completely rebuilt simulation system featuring new Physics, FullTumble, > > etc. > > <cough> misleading > > Quite right. New physics and flipping cars. Sorry but the simulation system is not "completely rebult" in GP3. It has new features and additions, but it's not completely rebult. Geoff didn't write a completely new game engine in assembler. He hasn't done that. > But again you show your mode regarding GC: the glass is always half > empty, ey? GC or not isn't the fact here (I loved GP2 back in the days). All the current modern Formula 1 title on the market have failed to attract me seriously, they all have major flaws to my eyes. -- -- Franois Mnard <ymenard> -- May the Downforce be with you... -- http://www.WeRace.net -- People think it must be fun to be a super genius, but they don't realise how hard it is to put up with all the idiots in the world.
