SCGT Monza and OT: USGP Speeds

1 post by 1 person · 19 Sep 2000 - 19 Sep 2000

Goodness, I thought I was playing GPL again! Sean Stafford's Monza is completely awesome! The AI sucks (and I'm sure he's working on it :), but I can forgive that! This track is definitely worth it! Also, at Starnews and Autosport, one of the F1 teams estimated lap times in the 1:18 to 1:19 range at Indianapolis. Well in SCGT, I ran a R&S MkIV (Cadillac chassis)-Ford at 1:19.77 around the converted Indy and only hit about 191 mph at the end of the main straight. If F1 cars are expected to hit 220-225 mph, this means they're gonna be snails in the infield if a sports car in a PC simulation can do a lap only one second off the pace of a real-life car. Hmmm...wonder if I entered my virtual car in the race if I can beat the real-life Minardis and Saubers? Finally, with all the Ford-Firestone hoopla here in America, I wonder if Jaguar and the Ford customer teams are looking EXTRA close at their Bridgestones? I tell you, if a tire blows at Indianapolis, Bridgestone's out of racing, as well as business... Yeah, it's off-topic a bit. Sue me ;) Sundown
