Hi....i am currently speaking with a local ISP (uk) about the possibility of hosting GPL, they give alot of support to the quake/unreal/tribes communitys, they even have Motorhead servers :-). At the moment they are investigating the possibility of hosting GPL but they have run into some problems and need some answers to questions that i cant help with. So i would like to ask the experts in this newsgroup to read the snip below and provide me with some answers that i could pass on to the isp. Thanks in advance for any help. Cheers Ginger.......................(GPL, Bowt NetterToDo) [snip] from the isp investigating The D3D patch is cool, although my GEForce2 only runs at 640x480 - everything else crashes to the desktop :) I was playing with the dedicated server options last night, running up games by playing with app.ini, core.ini & server.ini. All pretty simple (once I forced the game into windowed mode :) ). Now comes the hard part. I know that using the chat window and 'boss' passwords you can do some remote control over the server - the question is, can you stop the server using the chat line? Our biggest problem is always going to be controlling the game remotely. As it stands, there doesn't appear to be any way to modify the paramters of the game except through the ini files (or long command line strings), which could lead to some interesting attempts to run multiple servers from the same directory :) Anywya, I just wanted to let you know that we're still investigating, and we're a lot closer to being able to say yay/nay. Byt he way - we will also be looking at Nascar Legends, if it uses the same multiplayer engine as GPL. [snip]
Check your yahoo account for some questions, and possible answers. I believe that if you are boss and type "!shutdown" (sans quotes) in chat it will immediately shut the server down. Prowl around www.vroc.net for great info and links for this sort of stuff. Regards, Brett C. Cammack That's Racing! Motorsports Pompano Beach, FL

I always get envious of the Aussies - Australian Wireplay carries GPL, British Wireplay doesn't. Gloom :( -- David.
