It took me about a month to get down to my joystick times once I got a wheel, the sad thing is that the times were less then impressive in the first place! Have any of you tried racing with the joystick recently? I have been using an Interact V4 FF wheel for a year. I think its quite adequate, especially since its priced low. But the other evening I exited my flight sim and left the joystick (MS Sidewinder 3D Pro) plugged in for a GP3 run. What a feast! After a couple of minutes (hours?) of tweaking sensitivity factors and key mapping, etc., I started enjoying it a lot, bringing back memories of good'ol GP2. Maybe its the fact that I am sitting closer to the monitor, or whatever, but there is something which makes it better, in some ways. I can't drive GPL without the FF wheel . But GP3? And hwo knows, maybe the joystick will appear in real F1 cockpits in a not too distant future... Cheers Zen

Or maybe this is the controller GP3 was designed for :-( One unhappy purchaser of GP3 with a MSFF Wheel and V5. No problems with using a joystick from here. One day I will get a wheel and find room to use it, but until that time I can drive just fine without one. Most of my racing time for the last 18 months has been spent with GPL and using a joystick and so I have become reasonably proficient with it. I also have only ever driven using the in-car view, whereas I get the impression that a lot of other good joystick users prefer the external view in order to drive well. Well, this just isn't the case as my GPLrank will attest to, though I forget what it is exactly as I haven't checked for a couple of months, but I reckon it's about -47 to 50. -- Peter Ives - (AKA Ivington) Remove ALL_STRESS before replying No person's opinions can be said to be more correct than another's, because each is the sole judge of his or her own experience.

I didnt see them 30 months in GPL and changing to wheel now does not mean that I say racing with Joystick is the wrong way. I just looked for a new challenge and found it. thanks Wolfgang Woeger Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

I'm pretty slow so far, its a big difference to drive InCar AND Wheel now, but its great to learn. Oh, I think everyone is in a position to criticise(or not), no matter what handicap you have in GPL:-) Wolfgang Woeger Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

Hi Wolfgang, I wasn't intending to criticise, I was just echoing "masten"'s original post. Perhaps I should have put it in quotes. I hope you're enjoying the new challenge. Tony Whitley GPLRank +13.5 and therefore in no position to criticise.
