Tried it everyone said it was more stable then 98. It crashed several times
so I took it off but then again I use W2K and am spoiled. By the way W2K
runs GPL and
all the other sims great with my GeForce2 MX 566@
850.( with the exception of Nascar Heat which stutters
at certain track locations)
ided as to wether I install WinME.

I am undecided as to wether I install WinME.
Has anyone here tried it yey and if so, what is the verdict with regards to
GPL, GP3 etc...
I have the following hardware:
PIII 800
128 MB RAM
SB Live
Winfast GeForce2 GTS
LWFF Steering Wheel
If anyone has had any hassles with ME and this hardware, please let me know.
Thanks

I played GP2 on my brothers system when I was in the UK a few months ago and
he was running a Beta version of ME. GP2 seemed to run without any problems
as did SCGT, GPL & SBK for that matter.

Same thing here. First I installed it over my existing Win98, but ME
crashed so often that I deleted the windows directory and did a
completely fresh install. It was a little bit more stable, but still
crashed way too often. I also couldn't get some hardware running under
ME because some manufacturers still haven't updated their drivers for
ME.
BTW, I have used Win98 first edition for more than a year now, without
too much problems. Last weekend I did a clean install of Win98 second
edition. Guess what? More crashes than ever!
Andre
Running a celery 366 @ 550 under ME no probs (wouldn't run at that speed
under 98 no way, no how). Found ME to be extremely stable and hasn't caused
any significant probs so far (been running ME since RC2, now running the
final).

Celeron566@867Mhz
256 ram
V3/3000 AGP
SBLive! Value
MSFF
Everything runs perfectly in WinME and has from day 1 (clean install)
I find it to be much more stable than Win98 first or SE.
All the software that ran in 98 runs in WinME, though there is no
MS-DOS mode, per se, so older sims that require that may be S.O.L.
I have found that the Command Prompt available from within WinME runs
a lot of DOS stuff pretty well, though it isn't really DOS but a sort
of DOS emulation ala NT.

Running ME on the following hardware without any issues (complete clean
installation)...
P3 700 o/c 933mhz
256MB PC133 Corsair RAM)
ASUS CUSL2 Intel 815e Solano (BIOS Rev 1002)
Voodoo5 5500
SB Live Value
Realtek Network Card (NE 2000)
Run GPL, GP3, Rally Masters, Nascar 3 no probs.

odd crashes once in a while, but mind you, I even crashed the menu-system on
a mobile phone ( didn't think u could do that). The best thing i can say
about Win Me is the internet speed, which are doubled on my cable
connection. That alone does it for me. GPL on.line anyone?

YOu might try something to see if you get a little performance boost.
It helps me, but others have said it made no difference:
Right click "My computer"
Choose "properties"
"performance" tab
"file system" button
"troubleshooting" tab
put a check next to "Disable System Restore"
then apply/OK your way out and restart.
This seemed to make things go more smoothly and a bit faster for me.

No problems at all here after a clean install of ME

I have bitten the bullet and so far so good, me installed with no errors,
and the net connections are still OK.....
Time to check the sims :)
Thanks heaps for the feedback.

GP3 works perfectly...
GPL Works Perfectly...
LWFF even seems to work better, may be a personal impression but then again
aren't most of them.
So far no problems at all, slightly hight 3DMark2000 score, from 5650 to
5730 and Nortons Benchmark up from 307 - 394. The internet connections
(firewalled through a Linus server) is a definite improvement.
Apart from the annoying introduction movie, I am extremely pleased with
WinME.

Are you forced to use WebTV with this card? Doesn't it have a
freestanding TV viewer applet?
Most low end tuner/cap cards use the BT878/848 chip or some variant of
it and there are several tv viewer apps that support that chipset,
IIRC.
