There is no such thing as a consensus in this NG, unless maybe if there's only one game in a particular genre (i.e. GPL). :-) It's all a matter of personal preference Generally spoken, regarding physics and car movement, GP3 driving seems a little too stiff, artificial and sterile; while F12K feels too "soft", with exaggerated suspension movement and overly bumpy circuits. Even if we had a game that would offer a compromise between these two styles, which would be close to perfect IMO, there would certainly be still no consensus. :-) Jan

Ed, With all due respect to you...,but here we go again.....every time a new f1 sim comes out we have this discussion and every time it will end up people calling each other names simply because they don't agree with person who replyed before him...so this is a very touchy subject. For al i can tell,...and i've played a lot of these modern sims...i'm the most happy with Crammonds last creation GP3.....admitting it's not perfect but gives me a better driving feeling then F12000. Also the updates available on various sites makes this sim the ultimate F1 sim for me....and there's no end this upcoming flow of constant updates...look at GP2,people still making upgrades for that one which was brought on the market in '96 and still very much appriciated by so many people...do i have to go one?? Buy GP3..you won't be dissapointed. The thing about GP3 is...the feeling,.you don't have to explain it to people who know it,but on the other hand you can't explain it to people who don't know it!! okay,....let the discussion begin.....the game is a foot. -- Greetings :)RuuD +------------------------------+ mailto:[email hidden]

Couldn,t agree more :o) Didn't like GP3 at first, but with a bit of effort it becomes a very worthwhile experience (gettin sideways of those curbs at Imola is a blast) Regards Marc Davey "Ruud" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > prospect02 wrote: > > > > Hi, > > I'm just wondering what the concensus is about which is the mostphysically

That's a good idea. I bought both also, but kept only one. Matt

Having just attended the inaugural USGP at Indy today, I have to say that EA's F1 2000 is the most physically correct F1 sim featuring modern cars simply because it features cars from THIS season, plus ALL the tracks on the 2000 calendar (INCLUDING Indy). ;-) All that aside, though, as a sim nut, I personally would rate F1 2000 as the current top F1 sim overall -- it's the closest thing to GPL with wings that you'll find right now. -- JB In article <Ri7z5.19345$[email hidden]>, "prospect02" <[email hidden]> wrote: > Hi, > I'm just wondering what the concensus is about which is the mostphysically

I also think faster hardware makes programmers think they can get away with sloppy programming. Take GP3 for example, minimum spec is P2 266 yet GP2 ran fine on my Pentium 75. This group has been full of posts the last couple of months about how similar GP3 is to GP2 yet it needs a machine 4 times faster to run it! Thats even without wet weather. Chris

On my P2-350, GP2. Talk about GP3 and F1-2000 all you like, but they are useless unless you bought your PC in the last 12 months. I hate this with PC games - my videocard is out of date before its out of the box! Before you all brand me a "laggard", do you really believe your getting value here? I mean, doesn't this constant requirement to buy new hardware simply prevent innovative coding? For example, NFS Porsche was the first game that truly stunned me with its graphic ability - and I suspect its the only one that truly exercises my Voodoo 3 card. But why should developers worry about pushing the technology when a new processor or Videocard is around the corner with more basic built in features I kind of envy those Playstation owners who have enjoyed true value out of there 150 ($200?) box over the last 3-4 years. Plus they got to play Gran turismo. Does the Playstation run CMR2? I dread to think what the PC minimum spec will be. teehole wrote:
