Hello,
I ran GPL for months with no problems. Then I wiped out my system and
reinstalled all my software.
After intalling GPL (GPL 1.0) from the CD-Rom it works fine. (no FF though).
I then installed the 1.2 patch (which i think is both 1.1 and 1.2) and now
GPL crashes. I can get through the menus until I click on the gree bar to go
to the track and then it just kicks me back to the windows desktop.
I'm running an AMD K6-2 380Mhz, Voodoo3 3000 PCI, and Act Labs Force RS USB
wheel and D3D 7.0
I have the 3dfx rasterizer selected. As a side note I took the 3dfx.dll
from the 1.0 version and used it to replace the 3dfx.dll that was installed
by the 1.2 patch. Now the game doesn't crash and kick me back to the
desktop, but there are strange purple bars across the track's surface as you
drive the course. There are also some wierd rectangle that appear along with
the trackside scenery.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Ed

Hi
A real shot in the dark but I had exactly this when i had been fiddling with
my sound files in GPL. To get it to work i put them all back to standard.
Modding correctly also was OK.
Maybe falling over because of sound?
Cheers Martin

Make sure you have the latest whql certified 3dfx drivers for the V3. And
make sure your sound card drivers are up to date as well. If you have a
SBlive, turn off the launcher thingie...(sorry for the technical term) the
item that is installed to your toolbar. Some folks had problems with that
and gpl.
keep pluggin' and good luck!

If I can remember it right now I had some problems with that too. But I
think I had to manually move the 3dfx.dll from the 1.2 patch to gpl
directory. And after that it worked great.

That is strange, he said it worked with a version 1.0 install, but
not with the patch (hmm).
If it happened to me, I'd try the following.
1. Un-install GPL and delete main GPL folder (also check registry,
make sure you delete leftovers, if any).
2. Re-apply DX7(a).
3. Un-install/re-install latest video/audio drivers.
4. Re-install GPL 1.0
5. Don't load GPL at version 1.0. Apply version 1.2 patch first, then
try to run it.

Good luck, Matt
