Well, I thought all those people who wrote in about their FFB conking out in GPL were a bit lame....but I was wrong I think. Guillemot Ferrari wheel, latest drivers (v 1.23), set to the default 100%/100%/100% and centring off. core.ini settings: force_feedback_damping = 200 to 240/force_feedback_latency = 0.0000000/max_steering_torque = 165 to 195 The FFB is great (after months of tweaking), but after about 3 to 8 or 9 minutes of play, part of the FFB disappears. The "centring" effect that pulls the wheel back to centre under acceleration almost disappears completely. The rest of the FFB remains. This started about 2 to 3 weeks ago. I am almost completely satisfied with the FFB when it is working (at the beginning), but after you loose the centring effect, the car is more difficult to control and it just doesn't feel right. At that point, the wheel will flop/pull over to the right at about 1/4 turn to the right...almost like the centring is on backwards. It doesn't seem so dramatic on the left, but it is the same effect. I really would like opinions from those who have had conking out FFB and fixed it and those with experience with the Ferrari wheel to let me know if this is something to do with settings or if the wheel has just given up the ghost (it did not exhibit this behaviour until a few weeks ago). It will still be under warranty, so I can get a new one, but that will be a waste of time if they all do this under certain circumstances. Hopefully changing spring gain to 0% should fix it More info at http://www.slottweak.com/gamesettings.htm Tony "Marc Collins" wrote > Well, I thought all those people who wrote in about their FFB conking outin

Thanks, Tony. I am very familiar with Slot's work. Setting the spring and damper back to 0 did fix the problem. I was in a futile attempt to tweak each game in a way that would let me keep the same control panel settings, but it is obviously impossible. The pathetic joke of a profiler that comes with the wheel crashes almost every racing title out there, and even if it didn't, it doesn't support control panel changes (the way the Logitech one does). Oh well, I'll just have to keep remembering to change the freaking settings every time I switch from GPL and NH to anything else. Marc. Yes, the profiler stinks. But you can do like I did, get another profiler. I found rb-joy and it works great. It's made by Ralf Biedermann and is found @ www.rbsoft.de -- Greetings Johan N [email hidden]
