US viewers miss live USGP broadcast for baseball
Fans in Cincinnati and Chicago complained that Fox Sports Net regional channels showed baseball instead of the US Grand Prix. Others recommended Speedvision, and UK viewers complained that ITV showed the race only on a digital channel. Attendees also shared ticket tips.

Kyle,
I live in Trenton, up the road from you "20 minutes from Cincy" do what I did 2
years ago, treat yourself to Speedvision, you deserve it :)

Here in the UK we have ITV who show every race live except this one. They
are showing it but on a minority digital channel and not its full cover
terrestrial transmission.
For those of us who cannot get the digital we get flamin highlights at
midnight.
For Gods sake, why?

Ah, you gotta love Louisiana! As ass-backwards as we are, at least Fox
Sports Southwest has sympathy for non-NASCAR fans and is showing the
USGP. Any city not showing this race needs their butts kicked! I mean,
it's not like Phoenix and the infamous 1991 "ostrich race" taking race
fans away from the action! The damn Reds?! White Sox?! THAT's stuff you
put on tape-delay!

No shit! I took off work to watch this race live, then I tune in and I get
Chicago's Sox's Underground. The Sox's are already in the playoffs there is
no reason why this game should be on TV live over one of the biggest single
day sporting events of the year. I hope someone else gets F1 when the
contract is up for talks again.

250,000 people at the race and no one shows it live ?? WTF is going on ?
I'm one of the lucky ones who got it both on Speedvision and on Fox Sports
Net. Up until today, I've always watched F1 on Speedvision, since it's always
broadcast live. Fox is normally on tape delay, but today, their coverage was
live, as well. So I was switching back and forth during commercials.
Overall, I thought that Fox's coverage (of the race -- not sure about
pre-race) was superior. Lots more in-car shots, which is what I like.
Overall, I thought that as an event, the whole thing was top notch. You could
feel the great atmosphere right thru the TV.

Coronation Street. And no, I'm not joking. At 1pm F1 is good audience
grabbing material, 7pm has a totally different advertising demographic.

I'm glad i'm not the only one that was SO pissed off by that decision!
Let Fox Sports Net Ohio know how much you love their decision as
well..
But i was planning on watching the speedvision race anyway. Much more
coverage, and better announcers :)
Digital Cable is nice.

I watched the race tape-delayed on Fox Sports after the race. I agree
that Fox did a good job of capturing the atmosphere, but as good as
they did, it still compares to the actual atmosphere at the race itself.

want, watch the garage action....and the sound.....my gawd, the

obviously didn't) then yer screwed. Plus you have the hideous Indy

Oh yeah, and spend the dime with Warner and get Speedvision, or go
Direct TV.

Now you know how we European CART fans feel, when we have to watch a U18
soccer match instead of the race at Elkart Lake... ;)
Even worse, this year they stopped showing the races live for good and
I still don't know why.

I say "Die,RTL, die!", for grabbing the exclusive F1 "free" TV rights.
Those were the days when you could switch back and forth between
ES and RTL to avoid the ad breaks ...
Jan
FSN Has always done things ass backwards. They televise crap games
that dont mean shit and dont televise the ones that do. I was at the
race so I didnt miss it on TV. And for those that want to buy tickets.
Drive up on Sat next year and buy from a scalper. We ordered tickets
and got shitty seats but we upgraded from a scalper and were on the
front stretch fopr only $20 more. At race time the scalpers were
almost giving away seats so they didnt lose all there money. Will be
back next year, but ill wait until Sat to get my tickets. Damn it was
a bit chilly on Sun.
