I'm fairly new to N3, is there a way to replace the fantasy carset in multiplayer with the real cars in the game? Thx G Patricks
in the CARS directory, rename the 99season.lst file to multi.lst On Thu, 28 Sep 2000 03:17:38 GMT, G Patricks <[email hidden]> wrote: >I'm fairly new to N3, is there a way to replace the fantasy carset in >multiplayer with the real cars in the game? > >Thx >G Patricks

This just lets you see the cars in your set...correct? Other online players see you as one of the cars that they have in their game only. If you run a car with a filename that they don't have they still see you as one of the generic cars. You see them as either a car that is in the game or as a car that both games have the same filename for...at least that's how I understand it. It gets to be a drag racing against three or four #83's and four or five Dale Earnhardts.... (Don't gimme NOCRAP in E-mail)
Yes, but as I race with a relatively small group and we all have the carset switched over now its much better than using the "make believe" carset that multiplayer comes with. The caveat is if I choose to run #24 then there are 2 #24's on the track (assuming no other human chooses it also, which we usually agree on in advance) and also two of any other "real car" anyone else chooses. The obvious fix (to me) would be to institute a system that somehow saves different multiplayer car "skins" in a seperate folder and the game handles them in a way similar to the way Quake and other games do, downloading new paintjobs when players join the game the 1st time. As it stands now (AFAIK) the best you can do in N3 is swap out tplayer and tplayer2 graphics with a buddy to see your own car (thinking back to my N2 days), is this correct? G Patricks
