As you'll know, the GPL Scrapyard is lacking files right now, and I'd quite
like to remedy that. But I need a half-decent free webhost that allows
them, preferably one with FTP upload and not *too* many adverts on the
pages. Any around?

The GPL Scrapyard is temporarily down(ish). We'll be back soon!

Ah, but if you dig deep into their T&Cs, you discover that they don't like
zipfiles one bit. For example, Freedom2Surf changed their T&C (without
notification), and wiped my files (without notification). There seems to be
a bit of a paranoia about zipfiles among webhosts.
In any case, FortuneCity have come to the rescue, so I host the relevant
HTML page and zip there, with the rest still on f2s. Complies with all the
T&Cs and works fine. :)

David, you're in the UK ?
If so why not sign up to one of the many free ISP's that offer web hosting,
most offer webspace of between 10 and 20MB and all you have to do is dial in
at least once every 3 months or so to keep the account open. I don't think
any of them put adverts on the page either.

I host zip files on Freeserve, Plusnet and Virgin Net and never had any
probs with them being deleted.
Anyway, glad to hear you've found a new home :)
