Here is some info I got out of a rumour coloum from a Video Game magazine.
First tho remember Sierra hasn't confirmed nor denied the following. It
could truly be rumour, or it could be fact.

The rumour is: Sega wants to release a new version of Daytona Usa for
the Dreamcast console. In fact the title has already been coded, with lots
of updates from the original. But, and here is the good part...they no
longer have the license for Daytona. So they approached EA and were told
no. The magazine then stated they would ask either Hasbro or Sierra for
some sort of deal since they both have a license to use Daytona. Up til
now, Sierra would not admit they
had the Daytona license. For whatever reason...the cat is now out of the
bag.
My personal take: Since Sega has kept loyal Nascar fans from using
Daytona for years and years....I say...SCREW 'EM! Normally I am all for
other companies producing quality titles...but sometimes...after having been
ignored for years on the subject...ya just want a little payback.

Spoiler for a game? It's been long hinted in many Papyrus employees in
interviews (in fact the last one almost officially say so) that Daytona will
be included in their next Stockcar title. It was just a matter of time
before the license for personal computers expired. Just look at NASCAR
Heat, it has Daytona. And technically we all know that Papyrus did not do
the Daytona track for the DIS race just for the fun of it. There was
something bigger to the deal.
It's just a bloody track, and a boring one too!

That's no spoiler... it's well known that 4 titles will have daytona..
Heat, Nascar 2001, NR4, and World Sports Car.
