My suggestion would be to backup the c:\program files\hasbro
interactive\???\option.cfg file. Now make the following changes (the items to
search for may not be exactly as shown):
1. Turn off the "reduce_lock_with_speed" option.
2. Turn off the "force_pit_speed_limit" option.
3. Turn on the "hardcore_mode" option. Don't forget to choose SETUP / Hardcore
mode in the game.
Play with the FOV entries to make the viewpoint suite you, but this is not
required.

My NASCAR Heat has just arrived, courtesy of my aunt who has just returned
from a trip to the States.
Other than the 1.1 patch, are there any other tweaks, edits, downloads, etc.
that are "must-haves" to enjoy the game properly?

Go there and on the front page to the right there are Carset install files.
DL the one you can use (512x512 rocks if your system can support it) and run
the file. It'll add the entire 2000 carset with great looking paintjobs and
driver names.

This carset is a must have. In regards to the 256 or 512 version to
download, if you have a high speed video card (Voodoo 5 or GTS) you use the
512, if you have an older card (it might depend on amount of video RAM) use
the 256. If you download and install the wrong one, you will see some plain
white cars (look like prototypes or test cars) when you race. If that
happens, you don't have to uninstall the carset, just download the other one
and install it and it will fix it.
