3.5 stars? Nah... NH deservers 2 - 2.5 stars! I consider NH to be very similar to Nascar 2000. Pretty graphics with 0 realism! Pretty graphics with 0 realism! Come on, Heat's physics are way above N2000's. Heat does have it's problems with gameplay (some of them allready have been solved with the first patch) but it's very cruel to say that Heat is very similar to N2000... Andre

I agree.... Heat is better than N3 in every catagory, with the only exception being Multiplayer. Physics are awesome, Graphics are sweet, it is just fun to play. It is common for people to complain about things they have no experience with. Heat is, IMO, GPL physics combined with state of the art graphics. To those who say they hate it, "Try it, you may just like it." (And by the way, the Demo don't count as trying it.) On Wed, 4 Oct 2000 19:09:01 +0100, "jpGumby" <[email hidden]> wrote:

Almost got that right Red...:) Heat IS better than N3 in MOST categories. Starting with N3's bigger fields, like you mentioned. But heat has some real problems with race strategy and ai misbehavior...You can't stop repairs while in the pits to stay on the lead lap. With old old N3 you can. You can't run a full length race without getting destroyed by the ai if you attempt to pit with them. etc. N3 is showing it's age, but for some things thats a good thing.... dave henrie "Red 86 Vet" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > I agree.... Hmmmm I was not aware you could stop mid-repair in N3! What is the magic keys to do that? Granted Heat has some issues with the AI (most noted under yellow flag conditions) but it is one heck of a game. I enjoy Heat too.. with N3 and N99 you can stop repairs....Just hit the F9 key which will show the pit work: like change all four tires, full tank of gas, fix damage. Then hit enter...the fix damage will change to leave damage and in a few seconds you can motor down pit road...rip a quick lap, duck back into the pits do some more work before your spotter yells about the pace car in turn 4...repeat as necessary.(another classic example of "professional" internet sentence run-on) dave henrie "
Cool.... I was never aware you could change this while in your pit box.... thanks! It doesn't work right :( Most of the time if you tell it to not fix damage, you just sit there with nothing happening for the same amount of time it would take to fix the damage anyway. Might as well have the dents hammered out :) This bug has been around since Nascar Racing 2. -Larry Red 86 Vet wrote:

But if they've tried the demo(which is supposed to be representative) and don't like it, why on earth would they buy the retail? And if demos aren't a good representation, WTF are they *there* for? A demo can be representative of a shipping product or it can be viewed as just a taster of what is to come. European Air War had a lousy demo, but the game that shipped recieved accolades. Sometimes developers put out demos of betas so that they can get some feedback from us. Nothing wrong with the Nascar Heat demo anyway. It's a damn good demo and it's a damn good game. Needs some tweaking still (damage etc.), but it's a fine sim otherwise. -- Nos

So the demo isn't always a help in making a purchase decision, which I've said before. The Toca2 demo sucked(to me). I finally bought the program when it got down to about $10. The retail version didn't suck so bad...<g> Eldred -- Tiger Stadium R.I.P. 1912-1999 Homepage - http://www.umich.edu/~epickett GPL hcp. +49.67 Never argue with an idiot. For Your (and to all of those who wonder) Information in response to an earlier reply in this thread: Why did I buy a game that I hate. Because, the physics I feel are about as real as any game maker has gotten real world physics to date. HOWEVER, I think that the rest of the game is a joke. So, for the past few months, all I do is race around the tracks in practice mode for enjoyment. Racing mode is just plain too arcadish and buggy for any real use. Plus, I don't want to get frustrated by trying a season, and have it go to all hell by the damn bugs. Also, my friends at the local pc gaming store also love racing games, and they all feel the same way about NH, but basically do the same as I do. Play it to get a feel for how a real race car should handle, in hope that it will help our N4 experience. If N4 turns out to suck too, then I guess we're screwed.
