My K6-2 450 was virtually 'cutting edge' when I bought it just 12
months ago. I could have a K6-3 but they were reputed to be a bit
flaky...

Voodoo 2, 640x480 slider to "smooth". Is 1fps with this setup normal?
Software version ran OK.

You're lucky that GP3 recognised your card at all... I get rather less than
1fps with my 8M Voodoo2 & C450 (PO of several 100%) and I understand it
doesn't work too well on 12M cards, but it should be on a par with the
software frame rate AFAIK. Apparently the V2 is dinosaur technology and we
shouldn't expect it to be supported.

GP3 needs something like a 12MB 3D card, at least so an 8Mb V2 just won't
work.
As for the V2 fps problem, it's a well known GP3 issue. You can find a fix
for it at www.alphaf1.com/gp3 and www.bhmotorsports.com

Just one year ago, this would have been blasphemous to some.

Terrible, isn't it? The downside to technology moving at such a fast rate is that by the time you order and receive your high end PC, it has
been replaced by something even faster on the market. The upside, of course, is that, according to Moore's Law, it won't be long before
computer technology is at a level where we will actually interact with computers on the first-person level. They will be something which we
can plug our minds into to interact with. No need for keyboards or voice recognition software. Our thoughts will do all the work for us. In
fact, it won't be long before we will have computers with such enormous capacity that we will be able to upload a life-time of thoughts and
memories to it. Welcome, to the future!
There was a time, not too long ago, when a 486 with Windows 3.x was considered a lightening model, which sent adrenaline through our veins
whenever we switched it on. I'm sitting in front of a Pentium MMX at 166MHz and waiting for applications to load seems almost like watching
a kettle boil. Can you imagine the day when we'll look at a 1GHz system with 512MB of RAM and think of it in the same way.
I'm almost afraid to think of the technology, and the cost of that technology, that our children will be playing with.

video card and playing GPL instead of GP3 I'm choosing the latter.
