Your point is true. But I don't really want a mc sim. My point was that I
want someone to beg, borrow or steal that SB2000 graphics engine and put a
nice solid F1 or touring car sim under it. It shifts frames at a very
impressive rate, and those are highly detailed frames. As GPL with no
graphics details turned on will run 30+ fps on a ridiculously low-spec PC
these days, even the biggest, baddest physics engine isn't a huge load for
the computer. It's the efficiency of getting the pictures up on the screen
which affects the framerate. If I can have a realistic physics model, *and*
get realistic looking visuals flying along at 30+ fps, well then why not?
Good graphics and good physics are not mutually exclusive; it just seems the
best programmers for each discipline work in different buildings (and
countries). Also, although I keep GPL on my HD for occasional forays into
the outer limits of car control, time constraints have me gravitating more
and more to the instant satisfaction of (*gasp*) less rigorous sims like
NFS:Porsche, and here the graphics certainly help add to the fun.
cheers

I finally got around to trying the SB2000 demo (as the 2001 version is
coming out). Sweet graphics, and this on my lowly notebook with a Savage 3D
chip. That's a hell of a graphics engine. I went back to GP3 and also
drove around Monza. Hmmmm.... the shine is definitely wearing off my recent
favourite. Someone tell the Superbike developers to slap something with
four wheels into their next product; I can't get the hang of these
two-wheelers.
Stephen
Well, when you have disabled all the driving helps etc. from SBK2000/2001
then the bikes are very hard to drive, much more realistic as Gp500....
Though Gp500 is more enjoyable to play I must say....

That game is an arcade. The physics are crap. Try GP500 for if you want
the most accurate mc-sim

Maybe WSC will be able to combine the best of both worlds? From the screen
shots it looks amazing and supposedly some of those were taken off of a
PIII450 and a VooDoo3 card. And if the physics engine is as good as it is
claimed to be this will be one awesome sim.
