Insane demo won't install

11 posts by 9 people · 06 Oct 2000 - 19 Nov 2000 03:54 UTC

I have downloaded the Insane deom from two different sites and both of the files will not install. The install setup wizard gets to 99% and stops. Anyone else have this problem? Kyle

Hi daxe. What I notice about Insane online so far is that I develop a totally different mind set towards my competition than what I'm used to in say, Heat hardcore online. In Insane you have guys constantly stalking you over open territory. And you start to develop instincts based on high ground/low ground etc issues- even if they cant physically see you, they have your bearings. So the mind set towards the competition takes on more of a animal cunning and deception aspect :) example: I had a guy stalking me over hilly terrain and from my vantage point I could see my flag 'drop zone' about a mile and a half away, and I could see the stalker below me. So what I did was to lure the other car uphill towards me while I drove like a wounded or damaged vehicle.. on the verge of being stuck in a hill top gulley.. etc. Well he takes the bait and starts traversing the hill towards me- closer, closer, closer, and then *bang* I hit the gas going downhill towards the drop zone while my friend on the hill is left facing the wrong direction with his gearshift in his hand! :-) You get the idea. For what its worth I've also told Codemasters on the beta forum to give us different national flags to run with, instead of only the stock Codemasters flag, in the gameplay scenario that uses flags. Another tester thought a pirate flag would be cool, so the testers are demanding they include that too! MR Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

Be patient - it takes ages & seems like the machine has hung. Just as I was about to give up it sprung into life! Couldn't modify the controls from keyboard though :-( Tony "Kyle Roberts" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

It gets to 99% takes about 2 minutes then completes. They should warn you of this..without my warning I would have said the same mate. "Kyle Roberts" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Wait, mine did the same and if you wait it out, seems like a real long time, it will finish installing Edward "Kyle Roberts" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Same happens if I try to get there with a real ftp prog, too. ~daxe
daxe, get it here. It's a much faster d/l. I managed the 32mb file in 3 and a half minutes. http://www.gamespot.com/promos/demoad/index.html?ftp://ftp.zdnet.com/gs/driv ing/insane/insanedemo.exe -- Slot www.slottweak.com Tweaks & Reviews daxe <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > On Fri, 6 Oct 2000 19:06:07 -0400, "Kyle Roberts" > <[email hidden]> wrote: > > >I have downloaded the Insane deom from two different sites and both of the > >files will not install. It'll be even more fun when I get my wheel working. Multiplayer with this promises to be an ear-to-ear grinfest! I like it a lot better than that MTM2 rehash demo that came out a few weeks ago. ~daxe
