some small controller issues that have been mentioned amoung the beta
testers. I havent had problems with my TSW, but there has been reports
of having difficulty with certain ff wheels- and this has been replied
to in our testers forum, and they are (obviously) going to fix it. But
I dont know if the demo even lets you use a wheel in the first place,
so.. (the Colin McRae demo from years ago didnt let you use a wheel
but the Toca2 demo did.) I'll let you know if a work-around appears for
the ff controller problem a few are having.

Before you buy.
Well, after seeing the posts about waiting the damn near 2 minutes for the
install to start, I finally got the bugger installed. Now I can't find a way
to configure the controls to us my LWFF. Any hints on this one or are we
stuck with the keyboard? For all of the trouble this better be a good demo.
:)

I tried to configure my joystick and it locked up the game. I ended up
using the keyboard controls.
My impression...
I like it! The vehicles have a great feel to them (the best in any off-road
game yet IMHO) and the demo lets you choose
2 different ones, a blazer and a truck, and also two terrains (Ireland and
Algeria) and also time of day! I love driving at night and since it uses
T&L it looks pretty good. I'm sure it'll improve as it nears completion as
well. The sound is very nice too.
Back to more racing :)

rather pathetic, really). When using my LWFF in 2-axis mode, I can get
EITHER the accelerator or brake to work, but not both. I don't know how this
didn't show up in testing, or how on earth they thought they could release a
demo with this kind of fundamental flaw. Maybe my system's different to
others, but I've never had any problems with any other games . . .

Your not the only one, I have the EXACT same problems as you and I have an
MS FF USB wheel.

How did you find the handbrake control in this game? It didn't seem to do
terribly much for me - but then again, maybe I haven't set it up correctly.
And here I was hoping for something to get the Powerslide bug out of my
system! ;-) Maybe the final game will fix these flaws, but I still think
it's a rather shabby demo that ignores these kinds of basic controller
issues. I find it hard to believe that the demo has been tested on anything
more serious than a gamepad or something . . .
BTW You should include your website URL in your sig. I quite enjoyed your
rally photos ;-)

I can't seem to get the game to even realise my wheel (MS precision Pro)
exists. I also can't seem to navigate through the menus properly.
Anyway it looks a bit like Test Drive: 4x4, not really my cup of tea.

I liked the games physics model and damage modelling. But I gave up on getting
it to control with anything but the keyboard.
I have the sampe problem. Logitech Force GP.
It acts like there is no wheel attached...

Codemasters doesn't understand the Sim Racing folks very well, do they :)
This is a massive disappointment.

The physics are "fun".
It's a shame we can't play it :(
This is the dumbest demo I've ever seen. What were they thinking?

I had the same problem with my Act-Labs RS, everytime I tried to configure
the wheel nothing happened so here is what I did, My wheel is connected to
an USB port so I thought maybe that's the problem, so I disconnected my
wheel and installed my joystick to the game port on my sound card, I went to
the game and now I could configure the driving controls properly, then I
exited the game disconnected my joystick and reinstalled my wheel, then went
back to the game and to my surprise the earlier joystick config was still
there with the x axis to steer and the y axis for gas & brake. Now I can
finally drive Insane with my Force RS. Give this a try and let me know if
it works for you.

I have tried to get it sorted but no one has done anything yet at
Codemasters.
Ok try this for a solution.
1. Make sure you have only the USB wheel connected to system and no
additional controllers using the game port of sound card.
2. Then in the actual game go to vehicle controller etc and select say
steering. Press the enter key. The screen will show "release all controls"
3. Now the tricky bit.
4. Balance your brake and gas pedals and slowly press down simultaneously
and at about mid depression you hopefully will see new message "steer left"
keep the pedals perfectly still and turn your wheel to the left. If done
correctly you will see that change on the screen.
Follow this process for all other commands
