Super Touring - STCC 2000?

Hi all, I'm still desperately trying to find a good simulation of Super Touring cars! TOCA 2 just ain't realistic enough. The AI are too crazy, and there is *FAR* too much grip. I don't suppose anyone knows how to alter the grip levels?! STCC is also in the same league. Better in some respects, but worse in others. However, I've heard that Swedish Touring Car Chamionship is coming back as a 'version 2', STCC 2000. According to www.dice.se it's going to be published by EA Sports. Does anyone have any more information on this game, other than the DICE web site? Are there any good STCC web sites? A quick look at Google doesn't reveal anything. Of course, it what would be really nice is for Papy to do an open-ended touring car game, based on the N4/GPL game engine. That way, we could customise it for the BTCC, EuroSTC, DTM, STCC... any series, any year! Oh well, I can but dream... :-) -- Richard.

In a way they did, and a certain Sim Racing site grabbed the opportunity :-), based on the old Nx engine, but hey......:-) Beers and cheers (uncle) Goy http://www.theuspits.com http://www.teammirage.com "Mountain climbing, auto racing and bullfighting are the only true sports...all others are games." --Ernest Hemingway--

You can get Super Tourers for SCGT. They look pretty good.. but drive nothing special. I have developed a new car physics files and it works great! SCGT has reasonable physics with good graphics and Donnington Park in the wet is great fun! James "Goy Larsen" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

Yeah, I've seen TPTCC. Now, if they do a NASCAR 4 version, then I might just... Richard.

Update: I've now tried the Mondeo around Donington. No offence to the authors of this patch, but it just doesn't seem right. There is WAY too much grip, and the cars don't feel as if they are front-wheel drive. However, they look GREAT!!! > > I have developed a new car physics files and it works great! > > Are they available for download anywhere? PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE...
Ok, yes they do have too much grip even with no mods. run the AOE Advanced Options Editor to pure Sim and it will reduce the grip. I know it says not to, but I have and well the AI still gives a good fight at most tracks. Dave Robinson Tiresmoke AutoX challenge http://tiresmoke.homestead.com/autox.htm

I do have it, but the Super Touring instructions make no mantion of it, so I wasn't sure wether (or when!) to run it. Now, how about the rest of the BTCC cars? Where is the Renault Laguna? Nissan Primera? Vauxhall Vectra? Peugeot 406? What about older (pre-98) cars? e.g. Toyota Carina, Alfa Romeo? More importantly, what about some nice *British* tracks? Silverstone and Donington are great, but think... Croft, Knockhill, Oulton Park, Thruxton, Snetterton, Brands Hatch... Mmmnnn!!! :-) Or do I just want too much?! ;-) Richard.

I "thought" they were gonna convert the Toca2 British tracks. They already did Silverstone. So the others 'should' be possible. Use AOE but leave the car physics as original. All the cars are set as FWD or AWD in their .veh files. ALSO WHENEVER you run AOE get rid of the sticky grass. And you should run AOE whenever you make a change to SCGT, like adding cars or tracks. dave henrie(Vince had better come up with that ORECA STCC Stratus or heads will roll) "Richard Walker" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:S%IE5.25801$[email hidden]... > "David" <[email hidden]> wrote in message > news:01c03213$43860d40$98d3fc3f@packardbell... > > > > Ok, yes they do have too much grip even with no mods. run the AOEAdvanced > > Options Editor to pure Sim and it will reduce the grip. So the others 'should' be possible. That would be nice! Especially the long version of Oulton Park, and, I know it's not in TOCA2, but Brands Hatch Grand Prix... would be fantastic! > Use AOE but > leave the car physics as original. All the cars are set as FWD or AWD in > their .veh files. I see. I'll see how that goes, but I'll play with James' files, and try tinkering them myself, because they do have FAR too much grip at the moment. For example, the chicane on the Donington Grand Prix track. A real BTCC car would take that pretty slowly, in second gear. With SCGT-TC, it's possible to dive through it in third - maybe even faster, I have not tried that much! The cars just seem to have a bit of a RWD-feel to them... > ALSO WHENEVER you run AOE get rid of the sticky grass. :-) Seriously, though, the game is far too easy. You can set laptimes around the British circuits which are *far* faster than the real cars could ever manage. If you actually watch a real BTCC car taking certain corners, in the flesh, or on TV/video, you can see how slow the cars have to go. In TOCA2, you can just chuck the car round at twice the speed! For example, all the major slow bits (end of Thruxton, parts of Croft, Abbey at Silverstone, Druids at Brands Hatch, the chicane at Snetterton, Knickerbrook at Oulton Park) are really second gear, and very slow... but on TOCA2 you can whizz through them in 3rd or 4th! And the AI cars do! The brakes are also way too effective. You can brake stupidly close to corners and get away with it. I've found the game more challenging if I use CTFJ to reduce the brake to about 40% of it's full range, and the accelerator to 70%. This means I can't come into corners anywhere near as quickly, and can't come out of them so hot. It makes the game a bit harder, and more realistic. Sadly, it stops me locking the wheels, so it makes it easier in that respect! Richard (at work, but speaking personally)

Richard, can we have some examples of your lap times in Toca 2...? It's just that I have been one of the very fastest at Toca 2 and saying that it is easy just grates a little, when I would guess you are not particularly fast at it,thus contradicting your 'easy' tag. Can you tell me your best times on say 3 tracks please...? I can/will send you replays and TT ghosts of myself within 0.50 of the World Records on all tracks. Leave it with you Richard. Knickerbrook at oulton park.... on toca2 strange...... the track (even the GP version) is not set up in that configuration.....you just go straight ahead ......... unless i'm seriously wrong...... (but i'm not) oz.

I found that it was too easy to spin out. I kept getting snap oversteer. It was also too difficult to see where the track was going, for some reason. I didn't think it was very easy, but I got fed up fairly quickly. I still have the game, so maybe I'll try it again. I used to play TOCA2 with a Sony PlayStation Analogue Pad, and even with a PC keyboard... and they are just not accurate enough - the car will chop and change direction *far* too quickly, and that makes you spin. This applies to any racing game. Since I've had my Logitech WingMan, I've had no such problems. Richard.

I have a TSW2mod. I *think* I had it when I tried Toca2, but I had a T2 before that. I haven't tried it recently, though. I ran out of HD space. I'll have to reload it and try again.
