I haven't been able to find anything about this, so I hope someone can fill me in. For the past few driver upgrades for a V3 3000, whenever I start GPL the screen flickers several times. Seems like it's changing resolution and/or refresh rate four or five times. Same thing happens when I go to and from the track and full screen replays.. Works perfectly the rest of the time and doesn't happen in other games. I've tried older versions of the glide2x.dll and changed the refresh rate in the adapter display properties to all possibilities but nothing has made a difference. It also makes no difference what resolution I have set in GPL. Thanks for any suggestions! Tom 'Bondzai' Bond GPLRank +34.070
A couple ideas but dunno if they will help. You might try selecting a different monitor type or if you have the .inf disk for your monitor, make sure it is selected. Or see if you can download a updated .inf for your monitor from the maker's site. In article <[email hidden]>, default wrote:

It does get annoying, waiting for the screen-flips to stop, when going from track to car-setting, etc. It must take about 3-5 seconds each time. Any other suggestions? Thanks, Matt
Thanks guys, but yeah, I've have triple buffering disabled (get constant flickering in the game screens at all times with it enabled) and have tried different monitor types. Even went into the registry and set the refresh rate the same for all resolutions. I figured if it is changing resolutions at least then it wouldn't have to switch refresh rates. Didn't help any, though. Hmmm, sure wish I could remember what exactly I did between when it was fine then not. I stopped racing GPL for a couple months (I know, SACRILEGE!) and I think that's when it changed, so I installed something... It's funny though, I can be away from it for a couple weeks after hitting a plateau and come back and set a new PB the first night back. Gotta let my head process it for a while I guess. I think I'll try the original recipe gpl.exe, then the 1.2 version, then the 1.2 with disco fix to see if that turns up anything with the flicker. It's plenty annoying, but I mainly don't like it thrashing my monitor. Thanks again, -Tom <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:8ruolm$n6l$[email hidden]...

You mentioned not running GPL for a while. I can remember when this screen-flipping problem did not occur; running 3dfx.com's version 1.03.05 drivers and older. No GPL problem at all. For me, it started with version either version 1.04 or 1.05 (and beta version 1.05.02). Version 1.03.5 did not have the advanced--control-panel. Perhaps there should be a particular Glide-setting "enabled" with the newest drivers, a setting that was not apparent (or easily set) using the older drivers(?). My settings are all "default", and the screen-flipping still occurs with 1.05 drivers. Matt
