Sega Enterprises has released a new NASCAR based racing arcade game.
Pretty good game play, and simulation.
Check out the beautiful hi resolution graphics available, including
images of the Drivers and their cars, screen shots and more at:

It's not going to simulate the drivers very well, apparently. Of the
drivers listed on the site, I count at least 15 (about half) of whom
are already not in the right cars or will be by next season.
97 Chad Little - already out
44 Kyle Petty - out already
60 Geoffrey Bodine - already out
26 Johnny Benson - Hello? can you say 1999?
7 Michael Waltrip - out next year.
43 Richard Petty - retired several seasons ago
36 Ernie Irvan - also retired
66 Darrel Waltrip - retires next year
25 Wally Dallenbach - nope (Jerry Nadeau in this car)
10 - Ricky Rudd hasnt been in this car since last year
94 - Bill Elliott - out of this car next year
45 - Adam Petty - He's dead.
4 - Bobby Hamilton - out of this car next year and into:
55 Kenny Wallace - out next year
16 Kevin LePAge - team is disappearing next year.
I guess they got the special bulk rate on out-of-date licensing.

Pretty and probably pretty fun, but the off the wall car and driver
selection puts a real damper on it.

What's wrong in having a 2000 game that simulates the start of the 2000 WC
season?
Would you say the same about F1 2000 which simulates the start of the 2000
season (it puts a real damper on it I guess! <g>). Or GP3 which has 1998
drivers. Or GPL who has 1967 drivers (where do you draw the line?). Heck
you expect a magical network linked system of all the arcade consoles that
will update the drivers in the game for the next 1000years?

Looks like a good game to me... besides these games are best played...fully
loaded.....at a bar of your choice with as many friends as possible... One
such place by me has the original Sega Daytona game, but they have about 22
of them....so we have some pretty large races....all in good beer-goggled
arcade fun....except the designated driver of course....she is almost always
pissed... (and not the UK pissed which I am to understand means drunk..)

It doesn't.
26 Johnny Benson - Hello? can you say 1999?
43 Richard Petty - retired several seasons ago

10 - Ricky Rudd hasnt been in this car since last year
These are cars and drivers from the 1999 season with the exception of
Richard Petty.

I wouldn't say anything about either of them because I couldn't care
less about F1.

Grand Prix LEGENDS kind of implies that the drivers are not
current....

It's a brand new game that simulates the 2000 season. It has drivers
in the wrong cars and drivers who aren't even active any more. If it
is trying to simulate an accurate NASCAR situation, it has failed.
I haven't drawn any lines, I was just noting that that more than half
the drivers/cars featured are inaccurate before the game even hits the
arcades and saying it would foul up the realism for me. If you don't
have a problem with it, that's fine. Honestly I would spend the same
amount of $ on playing it one way or another. I was just making an
observation.

The development was done about a year ago, before the start of WC testing.
When they decided of the deadline to paint cars, it was before some major WC
news. You can't change a complete game development schedule simply to
update a car with new colors.

Mmmm if you knew about the arcade you would know that the King is a _SECRET_
driver ;)

Same for an already-released arcade title that was made in the end of 1999
for the next WC season.

It's an arcade game. Who cares if it's not 100% realistic. What you should
be asking yourself is it fun. When you're sitting in a bar/arcade with 10
of your closest friends and enemies and shoving quarters into the slot...
are you having fun? Or are you thnking this game sucks because that Pep
Boys sticker on car #14 shouldn't be there?

I didn't say (or think) it sucked. I said:
"Pretty and probably pretty fun"
I also said
"Honestly I would spend the same amount of $ on playing it one way or
another. I was just making an observation."
What's with picking on me for noting the lack of 100% realism? I said
it looked fun and that I would play it just as much no matter what the
drivers list is.

OK. None of that changes the fact that they are wrong.
Huh? Is the name "Sega NASCAR arcade legends?"
Who cares. Sorry I even spoke up. Remind me not bother having an
opinion.
