Hmm, you didn't bother to check that URL, did you? As it's not about
the V3 3500 at all but a new, TV-only board from 3dfx ... :)

I have a TV card on my computer...it's quite handy while watching CART
races...I can set my desktop up as a TV, so my desktop plays the CART race,
I can access live timing and scoring from cart.com, not to mention
pit-chatter...it's a helluva lot cheaper way to enjoy a race than actually
being there...and you have more info at your fingertips!

Watching the races and surfing or playing games at thesame time?
Hmm..
Not sure :-)
What do you all think?
Thanks

TV Card is too much $ for what you get. 13 Color TV < $100.00 and takes no load from my PC.

In the UK, a TV is 80 for a cheap one, or 100 with teletext, but a TV card
is less than 50, and you can watch TV and look at teletext at the same
time. Well worth getting, but mine clashes with my ISA SC, so it's about
time I went SB Live!

I might as well throw my experiences with this in here for people
interested in the topic.
I have had video tuner/cap cards for about 5 years at least. I
started with an ATITV card that added on to my existing card. It
worked very well and never gave me much of a problem. The tuner
physically got kind of wobbly on the card eventually so I bought a
newer revision which also worked quite well. The newer BT8xx chip on
there also worked with some other thing I was trying to do at the
time, maybe some Linux thing or something.
That was back in the days when a 2 meg PCI card was a big deal. I
even bought a 2 meg upgrade for one of those cards and thought I was
in hardware heaven.
When I put together a new computer I wanted new video stuff. I bought
an ATI All-in-wonder PCI card. This, too, worked very well for me. I
was able to capture decent video without dropped frames, do a webcam
thing, and most of all watch TV in a little window on my monitor while
I worked on other stuff. Someone else noted making the video into
your desktop and having web sites open with additional race info. I
used to do that (and still do) with NASCAR, but I use a small window
instead of the whole desktop.
I was really starting to get into gaming and had been hearing about
"3Dfx" VooDoo cards. I got a Diamond Monster II 12 MEG and was
thoroughly blown away for one of the few times in my history of
computing. I used this happily right up through the next major
hardware revision where I built a P2/450 with and AGP slot. I got an
ATI All-in-wonder AGP for that machine and popped in the MOnster II.
It was with great excitement that I heard about the new 3Dfx cards.
The "Voodoo 3" series. I wasted no time in buying a VooDoo3/2000 PCI,
thinking it would compliment my ATI AGP card. I was all ready to put
it in and realized that it wasnt an add on card. DOH! I would
suddenly be without the tuner and cap abilities I had grown to know
and love. I ran out and bought a "Hauppaugge WinTV" card to
compliment my new VooDoo3/2000 PCI and suddenly had an unused AGP
slot. Solution? Run back out and buy a VooDoo3/3000 AGP.
That same setup is still in my computer, now a C2/566@850. The
Hauppaugge card works great and always has. It works under Linux and
BeOS, too. It is fed by my cable TV cable, my camcorder (for video
capture), my webcam (a Sony HAndycam on a tripod on my desk) and an
ancient TV camera that points out the front of my house at my driveway
(so I can see who's coming here when I am sequestered in my computer
room)
The moral of the story is: TV tuner cards like the Hauppaugge WinTV
PCI work really well and for my purposes are worth every cent of the
100$ or so that they cost. They do NOT drain your system of
resources. If you have any inclination to get one for TV in a window
(hard to do video or screen caps from a little TV next to your
computer. You don;t get stereo or surround sound, either.) I say go
for it. There are also a lot of other interesting uses for them.
Mine even has an FM tuner built in which I don;t use beceause there;s
no radio reception where i live.

So what's wrong with the 3500?
