The problem was that he thought he had already won. He was merely
celebrating in true Zanardi style. You have to allow those poor droids a
little fun every so often.

I have the German version of SCGT. If I try to use any of the patched
spcar.exe (e.g for the ban_scene patch) then it asks for the game CD,
although it is in the drive. Are there any ways to work around this?
How can I fill a whole class with a particular set of downloaded cars? For
example, how could I replace the whole GTQ class with nothing but Minis,
Alfas and Lotus Cortinas? How could I fill the GT3 class with nothing but
Beetle Cup cars? And how would I go back to the original cars if I changed
my mind.
MASpuce gives me a cryptic "file not found" error when I try to re-pack
scene.mas after adding the files I need for a new track. They are all
correctly listed in the .pck file, and the number of files is right, but it
just doesn't work. Is this also related to my German release of the game?
Will the AI Mini Coopers ever learn to back off a little going into long
sweepers?! It's a hoot watching them tip over. And what's with the Lotus
Cortinas? They always lose it coming out of the corners, then spend 5
minutes doing donuts on the side of the track. And why are the Minis so
"light" in their .veh files (it shows 66kg in V-edit)?

I cannot answer your questions about your German release of SCGT, but
this part made me laugh. I recall souping up one of the original cars
to the Nth degree, rendering it all but undriveable without a feather
touch on the throttle. I was doing a long race at Hockenheim in the
rain and had turned the car over to my "teammate" near the end. I was
about 3 1/2 laps ahead of the majority of the field and figured he
couldn't screw it up too much. He got into the grass on the back
stretch after the chicane on the LAST LAP and spun out. I was a
little dismayed, but at least the car was OK and "we" were so far
ahead it wouldn't matter.
Well, you can tell where this is going. HE spent the rest of the race
spinning around in the grass trying to get back on the track and "we"
finished 16th.
yippee.

All of the original cars .VEH files are stored in vehicle.mas. Besides
V-Edit, there is another good editor called GTVE that allows you to edit the
cars in vehicle.mas also.
You can get it at http://members.nbci.com/MalibuPoint/GTRacing/
There are 2 ways to use only addon cars for a particular class using GTVE:
(You have to select vehicle.mas in the Favorites drop-down box at the top of
the Open Vehicle screen)
1. Change the race % to 0 for all cars in the class.
2. Change the class for all cars in the class to some fictitious class; for
example,
to use only addon GTQ and GT3 cars, change all of the GTQ to XXQ and all of
the GT3 to XX3. These fictitious classes can be named anything that you
like, but if you are going to want to restore them at some later time make
sure your names are distinctive so that you can tell which were GTQ and
which were GT3.
If you have any GTQ or GT3 addon cars in your patch folder that you don't
want to use, you will have to change them also (or move them out of the
patch folder, or delete them from the patch folder). If you move or delete
cars from your patch folder, remember that each car in the patch folder has
3 files; a .VEH file, a .MAS file and a .BMP file.
Using option 1 above, some unwanted cars may still show up in a race/season
if you don't have enough addon cars (e.g. Minis) to fill the grid.
You can also make these changes to vehicle.mas with a hex editor (UltraEdit,
Hex Workshop, etc.).
For option 1, search vehicle.mas for text "DescClass=GTQ" (don't use the
quotes in search). Just below this you will see "UnlockPoints=0". Change
UnlockPoints=0 to UnlockPoints=9. Repeat this search and change for all GTQ
cars in vehicle.mas.
For option 2, global search and replace vehicle.mas, replacing all
occurrences of "DescClass=GTQ" with "DescClass=XXQ" (no quotes here
either). I recommend this method for 2 reasons:
1. Either of the option 2 methods (fictitious class) will ensure that these
cars never show up.
2. The option 2 hex editor method is much faster, only one global search and
replace for each class and you're done.
For addon cars in your patch folder, you can make either of the hex editor
method changes by editing the .VEH file with a text editor (NotePad, etc.).
Just make sure it gets saved as "xxxxxx.veh", and not "xxxxxx.veh.txt".
Before you make any of the above changes, copy vehicle.mas to another folder
so that you can restore it if something goes wrong.
Sorry, but I can't help with the German problem (I'm using US version), or
the Mini/Cortina AI problm (haven't tried them yet).
Good luck,
Reggie Brooks
