Hi there,
I'm standing speechless in front of the oddest computer problem I've
ever seen:
Some 3D-accelerated games, i.e. F1GP, Driver and Dethkarz show this
very peculiar behavior on my computer (specs see below):
I start the game, I see a first splash screen, then the 3dfx logo (if
I have chosen Glide as the API), then - nothing, a blank screen, for a
*very* long time. After a few minutes, however, the next splash screen
of the game/sim in question appears. After a few more minutes, the
next, after an hour or so, the game (I verified this for Driver)
actually starts and shows a few frames of the demo before freezing
again for several minutes. And again. And again.
Nothing peculiarly odd so far, you say? Well, the odd part is that GPL
and N99 run without a hitch on the same computer... If it was a
problem with the Voodoo3, or DirectX, it would manifest itself with
those sims too, wouldn't it?
Or could the SBLive! Value be the culprit? There are *no* exclamation
marks in the device manager; DXDiag says everything is fine; I
installed the most recent V3 drivers...
Should I sacrifice a goat? I'm at the end of my ratiocinating
faculties. Apparently, everything is fine. Yet, those darnded prgrams
refuse to run...
Ideas, anyone?
