Just read where N4 will support T&L. For the best graphics would the GeForce2 GTS 64 MG be the best card to buy, since the VooDoo cards don't support T&L? Thanks, Kent :) Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
ATI Radeon supports T&L and is programmed for Direct X 8 features.... <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:8sg5b2$e0k$[email hidden]...

Thanks, Kent :) In 2/2001 (the date Gamespot claims N4 is going to be released) the best video card will in all likelyhood not be GeForce 2 GTS. Indeed in a few weeks the GeForce 2 Ultra will arguably claim that spot. After that, who can say? Nvidia NV-20? 3dfx Rampage? - George

Thanks, Kent :) This is a question that only the developers themselves can answer. T&L support may be confirmed, the question is: will it make any difference ? I have yet to see a current game where it does and where a Voodoo card is not superior to an nVidia based one.
I think thats because T&L will only be available in DirectX 8 I think that T&L makes an awesome difference - one of the papyrus guys (David Kraemer i think) he was amazed by the difference it made. I think it was in an interview in http://www.simracingnews.com. By the time it is out i think 3dfx will have a card out that supports T&L, so it might be quite a close thing. DX8 just has more advanced support. MS Combat Flightsim 2 was just released a few days back and it has T&L support. People are saying it does make a difference in frame rate, but it plays fine on my Voodoo5 too. -- Nos

The Nvidia Geforce cards have a GPU (graphics processing unit) that does lighting and geometry processing on the video card instead of the cpu having to do it all. Games have to be written to use it though. -- Nos
If you want the best video card for Nascar 4, buy it at the same time you buy N4. Todays hardware will have been surpassed in 6 month time. <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:8sg5b2$e0k$[email hidden]...

Todays hardware will have been surpassed in 6 month time. Very good advice. I will probably buy Rampage over a Geforce2 when I need T&L because if it's promised specs are true it will have a superior GPU than the Geforce cards have. -- Nos

David Kaemmer: Yeah we are, and actually we are really seeing a pretty big speed-up in things... [smiling] F1F: So it is a really significant improvement when you coded it in? DK: Oh yeah. --- Antti Markus Peteri a n t t i @ p e t e r i . n e t
