GPL in cockpit view is running at 12FPS !!
I've tried turning all mirrors options off and on
with _NO_ difference. However in chase view
(F10) the frame is always at >36fps ! What's up ?

Have you tried the usual stuff?:
Grab a recent driver(5.32, 6.31 works great for me), install it first
after removing the old one by "add/remove programs"-tab.
Other than driver, you haven't got some 3d-wheel/cockpit add-on
graphics? Well, all I could think of...

Are you using the D3D rasterizer? If you are, make sure you have these
settings in your core.ini -
[ Int Profile Values ]
value3 = Direct3D7:D3DDevice:0
value4 = Direct3D7:TossHighestMip:0
value5 = Direct3D7:TrilinearFiltering:0
value6 = Direct3D7:DoubleMirrorResWidth:0
value7 = Direct3D7:DoubleMirrorResHeight:0
value8 = Direct3D7:DirectMirrorRendering:0
value9 = Direct3D7:DisableZBuffer:0
[ Direct3D7 ]
D3DDevice = 0
TossHighestMip = 0
TrilinearFiltering = 1
DoubleMirrorResWidth = 1
DoubleMirrorResHeight = 1
DirectMirrorRendering = 1
DisableZBuffer = 0
If you aren't using D3D, then you need the D3D patch from www.papy.com .
Also, get the latest drivers for the GF2 (any of 6.18, 6.31 or 6.34 will do)
from www.nvidia.com .

do have the most recent driver from Asus - haplessly not from Nvidia
for obvious reason. Thanks all for replying. BTW I've found
the cause of the slow down , it's the setting of display on mirror: I had
it set to buffer since It did not display the mirror images correctly, but
with a solid black color cross-hatch pattern on the mirrors. My GeForce2
driver
can _not_do direct display on mirror correctly - Doh !
So the current work around is I have to revert from setting it from buffer
to
direct. And live with the cross hatch. Thanks all again for replying.

Cool... Does the sensation of speed get even better with those?

Yes. The immersion feeling is out of this world . Since I
got a taste of stereoscopic gaming 5 years ago I've never
gone back to regular gaming. Worse, even my video recorder
now are all done in stereoscopic and the best part is Asus
driver can make viewing all my tape in 3d flicker free !
