When online racing, the flag colours are incorrect. If someone is coming up
to lap me (which happens a lot), I get a different flag waved instead of
blue. It's usually green I think. It doesn't happen off line.
Any ideas - I've made myself unpopular on a few occasions by not realising I
need to get out of the way...

The blue flag will not be displayed until the car is pretty close behind you
(within drafting distance I would say). The only reason you would see a
green flag is if someone had spun between the previous corner worker and the
corner worker you are looking at (the previous corner worker shows a yellow
flag saying danger ahead, the worker you are looking at is saying that the
track is all clear ahead of him). So most likely either the times you
noticed the green flag, you had just passed a wreck, or maybe the guy trying
to lap you screwed up the pass and so he went off track and thus the corner
workers were acknowledging the wreck. Going with the second idea, it would
seem about right because you would see the guy spinning in your mirrors, and
then a green flag would be displayed ahead of you, so you would THINK that
he was supposed to show a blue flag for the faster guy that was trying to
pass you. All of this wouldn't happen offline because the AI cars rarely
spin on their own, and have no real reason to spin when coming up to lap you
(AI cars are more patient and don't get nervous when making a pass, and thus
stay behind you for a while...allowing you to see the blue flag).
Well that is pretty long. Hope you understand what I am saying.

Actually this is a D3D problem! I have noticed this same problem when
online with the D3D patch. The only way to know which is which is to
be aware of the situation. If you think it should be blue it prolly
is, if no one is close behind you then it is prolly a white or yellow.
If you just passed a car that was off the track, then it must be
green. I think maybe the D3D corner workers are colour blind or they
are workers for 3dfx/Rendition.

Last night I tried extended offline
practice at <spit> monaco. Flagmen behaved themselves unless i managed to
stay on the track for more than about 5 or 10 laps - then they started
misbehaving. They must get bored with my lack of crashes and try to cook up
some trouble.
The fact that it works properly some of the time must mean it *could* work
all the time. (?)
