New ones are only $50 from www.justdeals.com.
This one sounds beyond hope.

I have already taken this thing apart and rebuilt it once, but it was not
pleasant and basically was the cause of this problem. Ever since i rebuilt
it the wheel acts funny during calibration. It turns all the way left, hits
the stop, and then turns right. But when it hits the right-side stop, the
motor keeps spinning. This wasnt a problem before at it spun for about 2
seconds, but now suddenly after a few months it is spinning for over 10
seconds. I know something is loose inside, but I dont know exactly what, and
my biggest nightmare is allowing the cables to fall off the pulley again, so
does anyone have any specific tips before i just have the take the whole
thing apart and rebuild it from scratch? (Buying another one is not an
option)
stick a fork in it dude.
it's done.

contact schumi, he has a howto manual on reassembling this wheel, and you
might as well install his ballbearing kit at the same time.

Not sure what you did, but you could have saved it from wacking the
stops, and potentially spinning by disabling Autocalibration in the
settings menu. If you do that, you just need to move the wheel full
left and right manually before playing a game.

And even here in Malasyia.
So, enough bandwith wasted.
The effect you hear comes from the barrel (on motor spindle) sliding inside the
cable pack due to not sufficient friction.
When reassembling last time, did you lubricate anything? Or did you remove the
nylon coating from the cable?
The easiest way to put more tension (results in better friction) on the cable is
to make a knot into. Please choose a location where it doesn't disturb. This
will be needed also in case that you remove the nylon-coating now.
Don't overdo the tension thingie. First you could bend your spindle and 2nd the
less tension the smoother the wheel acts.
Also check the spring for unnormal elongation.
Also the bushings have an eye on.
Hope this helps

Highly advisable.
keeps the wife from heart-attack and it's also better for the wheel.
Can you imagine, how violent it knocks against the wheelstops with ball bearings
in?
