Really. Do you race there, or just live nearby?
I know a lot of guys who race there.
There are
SO many people here in Kokomo who are excited
about this game. The Electronics Boutique
here reportedly sold over 800 copies of DTRSC
on the first day it was out. I"m hoping to get
a group of people together for some LAN racing
at a computer gaming place - interested in
coming?

I've seen them here. I live about 1/2 mile
from the Kokomo Speedway.

I"m working on learning how to drive through
the turns while looking left. There is really
no other option, since I won't drive in any
view other than in-car.

Generally it's pretty good. It's kind of
disappointing that they didn't try to make
the tracks completely realistic. Two examples
are Kokomo and Gas City. They've added trees
and hills around the tracks to spice up the
scenery. I can live with it, but it would
be nice if someone could figure out how to
edit the tracks, and make them realistic.
There are two things about DTRSC that nearly
ruin it for me. One is the almost useless
in-car driving views. The other is the AI.
The AI do the same kamikaze dives to
the inside that they do in DTR. It's
ridiculous. They hit the inside berm,
and go flying through the air. I also
believe that they use too much brake going
into turns, but I'll have to talk to some
sprint car drivers to find out for sure.
They also throw the cars too far sideways.
The way the AI goes sideways so much means
that you really have to look to your left
while going through the turns. The "look
left" command looks too far to the left,
though, and you end up losing orientation
for where the car is going. As-is, it's
very difficult to drive in traffic. With
the smallest amount of thought about it,
the views could have been done a lot
better.
The forward view should be a lot wider,
and the look left and look right shouldn't
look so far left and right.

PD
Gas City and Kokomo were added as a last minute deal...
there were two WoO tracks that backed out at the last min.
they had Gas City's consent when it was going to be a "nonwing" game.
there was no time to model those particular tracks.... : (
Gas City is my hometown track, i would of loved to had it modeled,
im just glad the name got in there at least, even though WoO has never ran
there...

i dont care for the look "look left\right" feature myself, cause its too
hard to drive and look left or right.
i know what you mean by not being able to see enough around you (incar).
needs to be scooted back a little, but i did sit in the Ratbag car one day
and it is pretty limited.
in real life you can look around, move your eyeballs, but in a game you cant
do that, need a better view..
at least as an option..
if you play this online it IS a blast though... very fun!
although i have to use an outside veiw of the car to keep from taking
players out.. hehe

Pat,
I've been testing out DTR Sprints for a week now, and I've come to
basically the same conclusions you have. I find it very difficult to drive
in traffic in the in car view. Also, the cars still doesn't feel like it's
running on dirt, but rather floating just above it.
