Can anyone help me? I love Nascar Heat but after upgrading to a AMD Athlon
800 on a new motherboard with VIA chipset and a Diamond Viper II video card,
the game locks up solid after a couple laps of racing. I've downloaded and
installed what I believe are the latest drivers for the motherboard and
videocard and still get the same results. My video benchmarks say Awesome /
Good / Awesome but that doesn't do much good if I can only get 3 laps in.
Any help would be greatly appreciaited.
Thanks,
Pat
There are several issues that could be causing your problems. Fast
processors are showing up deficiencies with the VIA chipset and MS.
You will need to try the newest VIA drivers from www.viahardware.com
4.25. Also check out USB Filters.
Depending on what motherboard you are using you also could have issues
with USB ports, video card or conflicting IRQ's. IRQ's that are being shared
could be also causing a problem. Are you using a RAID system or running
ATA100
drives? If you are running certain HD's or controllers there are patches
required.
I found out my CD Rom was causing a conflict with my RAID system
although
nothing pointed to it anywhere. I would suggest before do anything go to
Paul's
Unofficial FAQ's at http://www.apushardware.com/faqs/ka7faq/ka7faq.htm
and follow the links from there.
I would also go to his forums for help or to this NG if you have an ABIT
board.
