Yes, Dave will take a US credit card. The conversion is excellent, especially with the graphic update from Turtle Works: http://www.simcyberworld.com/html/twi/gpltracks.shtml and it's a lot of fun to drive in a GPL car. -- don New GPL Programs for the Converted Tracks: http://www.ianparker1.plus.com/gpl/bapom/ You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be misquoted, then used against you.

Andrew, when you say they aren't there, do you mean they aren't extreme enough? - because there definitely are substantial elevation changes in Papyrus' Elkhart Lake (I have the "Cart Racing" version converted to GPL with Noonan's converter). I would very much like to get Elkhart Lake for GPL. I would appreciate any opinions on the quality of the conversion. Also, has anyone ordered the converter from the UK site? I am not sure how to order it from the US. Will they take a US credit card? Bill Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
The CART/GPL track is not very well done. The elevation changes aren't there and the track side scenery leaves much to be desired. I returned home from a Skip Barber 3 day racing school at Elkhart Lake, fired up GPL and could not believe the track I was driving was the same one I had just spent 3 days at. The best rendition of Road America I've seen is in Sega's Flag to Flag Racing for the Dreamcast. At least it's recognizeable as RA. <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:8t06i1$ab$[email hidden]...

Yes you are VERY correct. Realize the original track is VERY old in computer years...(a dog ages 7 years for each year you do, but a computer ages about 25) The size of the original dat file would barely cover the pits data for most tracks being crafted today. I have been pestering the guys who did the Sears 99 and 97 recreations to try Mid Ohio and Road America, those TWO REALLY need an updating... dave henrie "AndrewS" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:5AWI5.2117$[email hidden]... > The CART/GPL track is not very well done. ICR2 version of Road America is worthless. I would say they're not extreme enough, especially on the back side of the course. The hill between turns 5 & 6 appears too subtle as does the hill after the kink and heading under the bridge (forget the number and name). These are simply my opinions from spending 3 days on the track then firing up GPL immediately afterwards. My major complaint with the conversion is not elevation, but grip levels. I find this track (in GPL) to be too slippery and the car tends to wander all over the track. The wandering seems to be an inherent flaw with most driving sims, but I think the grip levels are too low. Still a fun track to drive in GPL. ymenard is correct. go dload the AMA superbike demo. Ride around Mid Ohio and Road America....then load up ANY Papy converted version and you will be amazed at the difference. The Papyrus ICR2(Cart Racing) version of Elkhart Lake version is barren and has only one hill at the bridge and down to the "hurry downs" turn. I'm not raggin' on Papyrus, the original track was advanced for the memory and cpu constraints we faced back then. But NOW we could see the CART courses in quite a-bit of graphic detail and accuracy...the time has come for an update... dave henrie <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:39f4e05e$0$15726@reader3... > > >The best rendition of Road America I've seen is in Sega's Flag to Flag > >Racing for the Dreamcast. Btw watch out for all the LAN reports next week on Jacob's NG. I have no idea what people will say about me! ;-) Going back to the subject, Motorsims *needs* to sell their track architecture (not the game engine 3d models but the XYZ object placement) to other companies. If somebody gets per example a license for Mid-Ohio, he shouldn't need to build a complete track from scratch. The version from AMA Superbike is so close to reality that it's actually freaky! -- -- Franois Mnard <ymenard> -- May the Downforce be with you... -- http://www.WeRace.net -- People think it must be fun to be a super genius, but they don't realise how hard it is to put up with all the idiots in the world.
Francois... I am meeting with the guys at Motorsims (now MotoOne) next week at the SEMA auto show in Las Vegas. I'll put in a request for you. Our meeting is in regards to the same topic......acquiring access to their track building geometry for use in our Bulldozer work via SearsGroup. If we get it.....and that is a "huge IF"......we want to be able to release some stuff to the sim community (at no charge). In particular....we would like to be able to "cross" to GPL type geometry so David's converter could be used on it. I don't know if this is possible....but I believe it is. In regard's to references in this string about "bugging the guys who built Sears99" about updating or creating tracks from the old ICR2 era....well, I assume you mean "bugging the guys" as making requests to Tim McArthur. I don't know what his "work schedule" is these days....and maybe he is planning on doing this work? But, nobody has been "bugging us"....and we "are the guys" who did Sears99. Tim worked on only a small part of the total project (and I don't want to get all that crap started again so let's not go there)! We can and do build tracks just the same as Tim.......and always have been. Nobody has been bugging me about this at all! This is the first I've heard of it. I will see what we can do....schedule wise. Regards, Tom "ymenard" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:89lJ5.371839$[email hidden]...

Tom, You may have missed it during the first rush of the Sears99 release and all the hub-bub....but from day one I've at least hinted for you and or Tom to look at Mid Ohio and Road America....
