I keep getting asked about Game Commander, an easy to use voice recognition
program that enables you to speak key strokes instead of taking your hands
off your wheel, joystick, etc. I and others have found this inexpensive
($34.99 US) software to be invaluable while racing. I use it all the time
in Nascar 3 and Heat and it works beautifully! Imagine being able to say
"TIRES" in your headset microphone and up pops your tire status. Or saying
"Pass #33 low!" when wanting to issue an autochat to the driver trying to
pass you. The program works great and is easily programmed.
If you are interested in this program and want to help support online racing
then please head over to http://www.racersdomain.com There will be a
"GAMESTOP" banner on the right hand lower side of the main page. Click on it
the banner and enter Game Commander in the search window. They have it for
$34.99 US.
I couldn't imagine racing without this invaluable tool!

How does it compare to Microsoft's new SideWinder Game Voice, do you know?
I haven't tested the MS Game Voice yet, but I'll test it out soon and let
you know.
BTW: http://www.racersdomain.com added a quick link to order the Game
Commander on the main page to the right for people who want to order it.

Actually, I easily found some reviews doing a search so I won't needto do a
review.
It looks pretty cool, but also sounds like it takes a bigger performance hit
and voice command delay than Game Commander and Roger Wilco. Another thing
is market share in that you may not have many people using this compared to
people who are running game commander and roger wilco.
The real test would be if someone used this product for a couple of months
with Nascar 3 and the like to see how it works and how many screen freezes
they get. Anyone done this? Is do speak up Please! :)
The somewhat unbiased reviews I looked at seemed to have feelings as some
didn't like it and others did.
Here are some other review links:

Thanks! I'll check them out.

The Nov. PC Gamer has a review of the MS SideWinder Game Voice. They give it
favorable reviews but the bottom line is "If you want to chat with your
chums while playing your favorite games, Game Commander is the better
choice".

Before you buy.
Count me as dis satisfied, IMHO only allowing people who buy GC between
September and october is Bad business. I think many people who bought gc
beforce september will be very mad and never buy another one again. Most
companies give Free upgrades for people who bought their product within 3 or
4 months at least but only 1 month seems greedy to me.
Said in a very friendly tone. IMHO, that's just the luck of the draw
G_Major. Game Commander has been out for a long time and just because you
bought yours 3 months ago doesn't mean that they should accomodate more than
30 days. From my 20 years industry experience 30 days is more than fair. I
purchased my game commander almost a year ago. Was able to upgrade to the
MX version for only $5.00 since it basically supported the Roger Wilco plug
in and it wasn't a major upgrade. Now for $29.95 I can get a major upgrade.
Seems pretty reasonable to me taking in to account that I use the program
everyday and it has made my online gaming life so much more enjoyable! I
respect your opinion G_Major, but I can't wait to pay the money and help
support such a great product and company! http://www.racersdomain.com
hopefully will have the new GC2 version for sale soon through one of our
affiliates. Check back regularly.
