Re: Recommendations for Force Feedback Wheels?

Is the yellow grip Formula GP (current) also a force feedback wheel? Now I'm confused. I thought only the red one was FFB, and also a poor cousin to the previous Wingman FFB wheel. -- Stephen Classified <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]... > On Tue, 24 Oct 2000 07:18:54 GMT, [email hidden] thus > spoke: > > > >one thing. is it the logitech formula force wheel, or the logitech > >force GP... the formula GP is a cheap and nasty version of the > >original & best logitech formula force wheel (with the red wheel) > > There are two versions of the GP wheel. I'm a newbie gamer who just bought GP3 and now I want to buy a good force feedback wheel. The two wheels I hear most often about are the Logitech WingMan Formula Force and the Act Labs Force RS. Does anyone have any comparative info about them or any other wheels you might suggest? Regards, Mark
you can get a logitech FF wheel at www.justdeals.com for like 46.00 right now.. Mark Webb wrote:

I have a Guillemot Ferrari FFB wheel and it is absolutely great as well as not very expensive. Milan "Mark Webb" <[email hidden]> schreef in bericht news:1o5J5.12092$[email hidden]...

The previous (or still current in some stores?) FFB wheel had good reviews. This had a red covering on the entire wheel and nice shifting paddles behind the wheel. The newer wheel has a red covering only on the 9 and 3 positions, uses rectangular switches on the back of the spokes for shifting, and apparently uses a cheaper gear-driven FFB system. -- Stephen Mark Webb <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:ZUpJ5.16203$[email hidden]... > As you said (from the Logitech web), the red wheel is FFB and officially > called the Logitech WingMan FormulaT Force GP. As you said (from the Logitech web), the red wheel is FFB and officially called the Logitech WingMan FormulaT Force GP. The yellow wheel is the "poor-cousin" non-FFB and called the Logitech WingMan FormulaT GP. Was there a previous (and maybe better version) that others were referring to, or are these two all there are? I don't want to buy one if it was some previous wheel that got all the raves. Well, I have this FF GP wheel and the only real complaint I have is the clamping system. Yes, it uses cheaper parts than the previous LWFF wheel, but the FF effects are fine. In fact I have to turn the overall effects down because I find them too strong otherwise. Apart from the cheaper plastic and smaller size what are the other complaints people have with this wheel? This is my first FF wheel so have nothing to compare it to. But, I can still return it if it is indeed a bad wheel to use. Just looking for legitimate reasons. The use of plastic parts over metal doesn't count because this wheel still works well whether they are plastic or metal. I must have a USB wheel and not a gameport wheel like the previous LWFF was. -- xyz
No, the previous LWFF uses USB too; I am using one. Yellow one: non FF Old red one (paddle shifter and entire red wheel): FF cable driven (Hmmmmmmm), USB and serial possible, new red one: FF gear driven (Brrrrrr), USB, cheap JensSchumi On Wed, 25 Oct 2000 02:38:31 GMT, [email hidden] (Classified) wrote: > >Hmm...maybe I'm confusd by the below url. I sent that new Logitech FF wheel back. My times immediatley improved in Hascar Heat going back to a plain old MS PP wheel. Go figure. The only game I really found the FF helped was GPL due to being able to feel when the car was losing traction. Some of the effects were just plain annoying and my arms got sore quick. No FF for me please. :=) -- eX
