Dear All,
I have just noticed a strange conflict seemingly between my Elsa Erazor III
Pro ViVo card and the gameport on my PC. Until recently, I only really used
the Elsa card for 2D and ViVo work, continuing to use an old Voodoo2 for my
3D games because they generally had a glide option and ran faster/better
that way - despite looking worse.
Last night I installed Nascar Heat, and immediately noticed how *horrible*
the graphics where with the V2. Time to use the TNT2 I thought!
However, whenever I use the TNT2 card, I get really nasty spikes on the
steering wheel (always to the left) that make the car undriveable, and the
game thus unplayable. When running with the V2, the controller works fine.
Thinking this may be a Nascar Heat problem, I installed the D3D patch for
Grand Prix Legends, a game I have played successfully in Glide on the V2 for
a couple of years, and noticed *exactly* the same problem when using the
TNT2 card. Switching back to the V2 immediately cured the problem.
The obligatory system specs....
AMD K6-III 400 (not overclocked)
Soyo 5EHM mobo (Via chipset)
128MB PC100 RAM (2x64MB modules)
Elsa Erazor III Pro TNT2 32MB AGP card (not overclocked)
12MB Voodoo2 card (not overclocked)
Win98SE
DirectX 7.0a
Generic Aureal Vortex1 A3D soundcard (using gameport on this).
I have tried using the standard gameport on the soundcard, rather than the
"accelerated" one, both with poll with interrupts enabled and disabled.
This had no effect.
Any other ideas?
Thanks for reading this far....
