Grand Prix 3 or F1 2000 for a Voodoo3?
A user with a Voodoo3 asked whether to buy GP3 or F1 2000. Replies pointed to comparison articles, recommended trying the GP3 demo because of Voodoo issues, and suggested waiting for EA's F1 Championship Season 2000. Greg Cisko and another poster exchanged insults.

Unfortunately graphic power is only the icing on the cake here, as this is a
horsepower question. F1 2k needs a fast processor to get some use out of it.
GP3 is less processor demanding when the weather in the game is good, but,
without the patch (I have seen 3D performance boosts due to the patch
reported here), the Voodoo3 doesn't help much.
Which one should you buy... tough question, which I'm sure you can get a
number of conflicting responses for. Personally, I tend to favour a patched
F1 2k, but that's just my opinion not having tried the patched GP3.
I think your best bet is to sit on the fence just that little bit longer and
look for people discussing the changes in handling, if any, the GP3 patch
makes and how it now compares to other sims.
Either that or get GPL and WinVROC... no amount of patching will bring
either game up to those standards. IMO, of course.

Egads! I feel like Eldred -- my name has been invoked in a thread (but
not the subject, it seems. Gonna have to work on that!). <G>
"The" answer is to download the GP3 demo and see how it works on your
system. This is especially important given the fact that GP3 has a
history of problems with the Voodoo-based cards.
The fact that GP3 is still selling for over $44 at Electronics
Boutique, plus the fact that EB is now selling F12K for $19, from an
economical standpoint, I'd say that "my" answer would be to buy F12K
now and wait for the price to come down some more on GP3. Both are
great games, and they have their pros and cons, but I'd say that both
are worth owning if you're a sim nut and an F1 fan. If the purchase
decision comes down to an either/or situation due to money, then the
lower cost of F12K could serve as a determining factor, it would seem.

Here's my two cents. I say buy neither, both GP3 and F1 2000 have several
problems. I would wait until next month and then get F1 2000 CS, the new
improved version of F1 2000. From what I've read it will have several bug
fixes and better AIs, it looks to be much better.
Take care.

www.simracingnews.com just posted a nice comparison of the two.

Good answer :)
Buuuuut seriously, if you have the money, buy them both.
Both GP3 and F1 2000 are very good F1 sims, each with their own
advantages and disadvantages. Or just wait a couple of weeks (months?)
for the next version of F1 2000 (forgot the name) and see how that
turns out to be.

He's trying to run Gp3 with 16 fps...ha ha
When you can't even set up a racingsim then you should not write such
article IMO of course.
